Happy Labor Day! Today is an extra special one for me because it is the first Labor Day since I made the move to work for myself.
After coming home from Cooke City I spent the rest of the day adding a shelf to my Andyman Van. It will be nice having the extra space for tools and materials.

This balcony was all rotten underneath. The OSB just fell apart. Luckily, noone fell through. I removed the rotten wood (and bees) and replaced it with new 3/4" plywood with a slight slope away from the building. Then used Dec-Tec DIY membrane to seal it. I just need to replace the siding and it's done.

Tiny remodel I'm working on. Busting out tile and had to do some new framing. Drywalling now, paint and flooring next.

This is a great example of what handyman does. A contractor wouldn't look at this job because it is too small.
Top nailing is the only way to go for these types of repairs with hardieboard. If you try to hide the nails under the lap siding above it, it loosens the grip the nails have. That's why I was called to repair a piece that was blown off above. It was loosened by a previous repair. I know it doesn't look as good with the nails visible l, but looks better than a piece of siding blown off.
Good match by Sherwin Williams too. The sheen looks a little different in the pictures, but that's because it's still wet and not weathered like the rest.
