Help/Tips: Locating where to put your tub filler.
🚰Spout reach and the slant of the tub will always determine where the water will hit.
🚰Use a level to see where the water will hit the side of the tub. Make sure it doesn’t hit too high up because that will create splashing.
Save this for the next time you need to locate a tub filler!

Anyone old enough to remember sponge painting and rag rolling? Well we’re not there again thank goodness but we are all about a great wall finish. I like interiors that have depth and Venetian plaster layered with lime wash and glaze give that rich look. Think old plaster walls in an English countryside pub-not the Tuscan Olive Garden of the early 2000’s!
Watch how we transform this finish with glaze and how it will look with the antique brick.

What a treat to have this wonderful service from The Urban Electric Co.! No worries if your electrician has never installed a bench made piece that has been customized for your client needs. Field experts like Ryan can be onsite to help with whatever comes up. I love that they provide this because it can be daunting on installation day. Besides the creativity of being able to customize everything fixture and the quality, this is the extra step that makes designers choose vendors like Urban Electric.
Tips for Installation day:
-Always have your spec sheets and “room map” for each fixture. It’s helpful for all involved to know exactly where it’s going.
-Many times we draw in the heights of our fixtures (and fixed heights are created before hand). It helps our clients visualize the actual fixture in real dimension.
-Have all bulbs on hand.
-Way before installation we also give our builders the weights of the fixtures in case a support (blocking) is needed.

A lot of different factors affect stone prices. I’ve seen everything from geopolitical climate, weather disturbances, political unrest, tariffs etc affect anything we are importing. And that includes stone.

Also supply and demand- when something gets super popular, the price goes up. And when the stone was scarce to begin with it can create a “must have” mentality that’s not rooted in value -just demand.

Most of the time though, price is driven by logistics. If the stone is hard to get out of the “mountain” and it has to come from quarries in the middle of nowhere-well that’s going to be an expensive stone. If it’s fragile or a semi precious stone-it’s going to be expensive.

Remember there are a lot of beautiful stones about there. Select what you love and what you can afford comfortably.

My rules on buying:

-Would I be upset if I came back and it was snapped up by someone else? This happened to me once when I hemmed and hawed over a piece of antique silver. It was pricey and I didn’t “need” it but when I went back the next day to look at it again -it was being sold in front of me. I quietly said “oh good for you.” 😒😅. I still think about it. But it wasn’t meant to be.

-Can I afford it? Will it be a burden to me if I have to pay this bill asap or is it a purchase that I can easily absorb? I don’t like any debt so there are no balances on cards for me. Also-I don’t ever want to look at something in my home and the cost be the thing I remember.

-Do I have a place for it in my home or is it something I love so much that I would be willing to change a current piece or arrangement to fit the new item in?

-Don’t buy something solely for investment. Some art will definitely appreciate and so will a lot of antique pieces. But it’s no longer a smart strategy considering the fickle nature of today’s supply and demand as well as global economic factors. Just buy it if you love it and if it appreciates-that’s an amazing bonus.

-Lastly, if it is expensive and I’m on the fence, I will walk away for a minute and go down my mental check list. Most of the time if I have to think about it-it’s not the right purchase.

Laser is so important to get the intersection center points. Since it’s a wood ceiling and we have a fixed down rod, it’s important we get it right the first time. Find your center point and your through line (where everything should line up) and make sure you check that. It’s the difference between pretty good and perfect.
