Rest in Peace πŸ’”πŸ˜₯πŸ™πŸ•Š

Yayoi Kusama was a world-famous Japanese contemporary artist.

Known globally as the "high priestess of polka dots", she was a true pioneer who changed the world of art.

Her work spanned across painting, sculpture, and giant room installations.

Over her seven-decade career, she went from a struggling artist in postwar Japan to the world's top-selling female artist, mesmerizing millions with her signature repeating patterns and mirror rooms.

Kusama saw polka dots as a way to represent the universe. She once explained that our Earth is just one tiny polka dot among millions of stars.

This was her idea of getting lost in the patterns. By covering things in dots, she felt people could blend into the nature around them.

As a child, Kusama began having vivid hallucinations where dots and nets covered everything. She turned these frightening visions into beautiful art. Making art was her way to cope and survive.

In the 1960s, she became a star of the New York avant-garde scene, running in the same circles as Andy Warhol and Claes Oldenburg.

She staged bold public art performances and helped create what we now call "experiential art"β€”art that you don't just look at, but fully experience.

In the 1970s, she returned to Japan and voluntarily checked herself into a Tokyo psychiatric hospital to manage her mental illness.

She lived and worked there for the rest of her life, painting in a studio just across the street. Her fame reached new heights later in life, turning her exhibitions into global blockbusters with lines hours long.

She even opened her own Yayoi Kusama Museum in Tokyo in 2017.

Ingredients:
*For the Butterscotch Filling:

1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup brown sugar, packed
3 large egg yolks
1/4 cup cornstarch
2 cups whole milk
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

*For the Crust:

1 pre-baked 9-inch pie crust (homemade or store-bought)

*For the Topping:

Whipped cream
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Instructions:
Prepare the Butterscotch Filling:

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and stir in brown sugar until fully dissolved.

In a separate bowl, whisk together egg yolks, cornstarch, and salt. Gradually add the milk, stirring continuously to prevent lumps.

Slowly pour the warm butter-sugar mixture into the egg mixture, whisking constantly.

Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium-low heat, stirring until thickened (about 5 minutes). Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.

*Assemble the Pie:

Pour the warm butterscotch filling into the pre-baked pie crust.

Smooth the top and let it cool at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Refrigerate for at least 3 hours to set completely.

Garnish & Serve:

Top with a generous dollop of whipped cream.
Sprinkle with chopped pecans for extra crunch.

The before and after pictures coming out of Nepal are just horrific πŸ˜₯πŸ˜₯πŸ˜₯

A massive landslide and ice-rock avalanche on the Nepal-Tibet border blocked and then overwhelmed local rivers like the Bhote Koshi, causing a wall of mud and water to rip through towns and villages.

As of today, the death toll has reached at least 157 people (54 + are American Tourists), and hundreds more remain missing, including dozens of foreign tourists and pilgrims.

Images taken just days earlier show narrow, peaceful mountain valleys lined with dense green forests, small agricultural villages like Manakamana and Khadga Bhanjyang, and standard flowing rivers.

Across the border in Tibet, where three deaths and 265 missing persons have been reported, Chinese President Xi Jinping ordered "all-out" search efforts at the severely damaged Gyirong border port.

The catastrophic flash flooding today occurred along the Himalayan border between north-central Nepal and Tibet (China), severely hitting the Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts in Nepal's Bagmati province.
