Chicago lots are standard across the city, and most homes have the same size 10-15’ deep front yard. Wide enough to put a path in, spacious enough to lay down a picnic blanket. By US standards, it may seem ridiculously small, yet we’ve never yearned for anything more. I think small spaces breed creativity, and we’re always up for the challenge to make the most of it!
In 2021, we worked with a local landscaper to help us plan for a (mostly) native front yard. Something that would give our home soft edges, lots of movement, boatloads of texture and a few color pops.🌿🌼🤍🌱
5 years later, the plants have matured, the ground cover is taking over the mulch, the bees are busy, and everything is settling into itself. It’s full, soft, and feels like it was always meant to be this way.
