The 450 sq ft we’ve been planning for 3 years.🫶⁠

We designed renovations around it, installed a 14’ sliding door in anticipation, and daydreamed for years imagining how we’d use it. And all along, there was one thing we never questioned. Building it with TimberTech!⁠

Our new deck was built using TimberTech’s Aluminum Framing System and TimberTech Advanced PVC decking in Weathered Teak, creating a massive space that’s built to withstand Michigan’s harsh seasons while resisting moisture, mold, fire, insects, rot, cracking, and fading.⁠

The aluminum framing feels solid underfoot, and paired with the low-maintenance decking, it’s a combination designed to last for decades!⁠

May was one for the books! This is the month where Chicago comes alive, warmer days remind you that summer will be here soon, and the chaos of end-of-school feels like the wildest ride.

Add to that a whole home exterior renovation, holiday weekends, birthdays, and squeezing in enough time to binge Million Dollar Secret, and let’s just say… we had a time.

Photography has always been, and will always be my first love.📸⁠

To be able to zoom in on the details, dissect the color palette, and take note of pattern and texture are the reasons I’ll always love the stillness of a photograph, even in this video-hungry world. ⁠

We’ve made a handful of tweaks to our living room as of late — a fresh coat of warm white paint, a mocha sofa, mixing up the pillows and ‘framing’ the TV — so to share, I’m trying a little combo of both! ⁠

The easiest way to make a bathroom feel custom? TILE. Mix collections and play with the layout. Go ahead, have fun with it!💃🏻💫

We paired Sandrio Hexagon Mosaic tile from with Mohawk’s soon-to-launch Authentique Earth in Weathered White + Silversmith (coming to Menards this summer!) for a custom, curated feel. Never underestimate the power of layout, grout color, and mixing finishes + collections. 🙌

For a space that needs to work hard for our tenants, Mohawk’s durable waterproof tile offered beauty and performance, checking every box.

Proof that a rental bathroom can still get the good stuff. 🫧

This little bath in our garden unit was ready for a refresh. We nixed the tub in favor of a walk-in shower, which gave us the perfect excuse to play with tile samples!

The winning combo? Mohawk’s Sandrio Dark Green Hexagon Mosaic floor tile paired with the soon-to-launch Authentique Earth in Weathered White + Silversmith wall tiles (hitting this summer!). The checkered border, curb, and shower niche make it feel extra custom!

And as landlords, we love knowing Mohawk tile gives us the durability and waterproof performance we want in a rental.

If only it were that simple! This is the gallery wall formula we always come back to.👇 🖼️💕⁠ Comment FRAME for a link to all the frames we used!

1. Gather everything you can! Frames, prints, photos, even things you’re not sure about yet. Then start pairing what you have and filling in the gaps as needed. If purchasing new frames, I like mixing materials and finishes so it never feels too one-note. (Think: White frames as a base, brass or silver as a metal, and a sprinkle of color)⁠

2. Map out the layout... ON THE FLOOR. This part is longer than the hanging itself, but take your time and have fun with it! I try different combinations until it feels right and ask myself things like:⁠
⁠
– Are the frames balanced in size and orientation?⁠
– Are too many of the same color frames clustered together?⁠
– Can I sneak in a found object or something dimensional for interest?⁠
⁠
3. Keep the spacing closer than you think. Like, much closer. I stick to about 2–3 inches between frames. Too much space and it stops feeling like a cohesive gallery wall and starts feeling like random art on a wall.⁠ ⁠

4. Start in the center and work out. I mark the center point of the wall and my floor layout, then build out from there. After that first anchor piece, I rarely need to measure again and just follow the layout.⁠ ⁠
⁠
5. Make sure it stays put! I use two screws whenever possible, and I always stick Gorilla mounting putty on the bottom corners when it’s not. Once it’s up and level, I never want to mess with askew frames. ⁠

A few tips:⁠
- I used one 4oz bottle of glue for 108” long curtains⁠
- Glue panels with face of panels facing each other (same as you would if sewing) ⁠
- I’m using 2.5” fringe⁠
- Have fun with contrast and unexpected color combinations!⁠

April served up a big project list, and we were up for the challenge! This month was spent heads down managing a bathroom renovation on-site and Red House projects from afar. My baby brother got married, we found THE artwork, and Lucy and I spend every evening curled up on the new sofa. Not too shabby, April, but time to bring on my favorite month! I love watching Chicago come alive, there’s nothing like it.♥️
