Daylight saving time ends at 2:00 a.m. Sunday. While you're resetting the oven clock, run through this quick checklist:

1. Press the test button on every smoke alarm. The National Fire Protection Association recommends testing at least once a month.
2. Replace the regular batteries in battery-powered smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
3. Check the date on the back. NFPA recommends replacing smoke alarms every 10 years. Replace CO alarms on the schedule the manufacturer gives.
