Health Update
Basically, the GI bleeding is back. 🥲
It has now been ongoing for over a year (started last June). But we had months of quiet. But yeah, it came back and both Nick and I were like, “Oh f**k, we’ve seen this movie.” 🥲
I have also lost 10 lbs in the last eight weeks despite being a perpetual potato that still spends most days laying down due to the ongoing fatigue. Our P*P, who had never told me to go to the ER for this before, basically said with the recurrence and escalation, ‘yeah, you emergency room. Now. Go. And so we did. And hated every second of it and we made a pact to probably never go again. (kidding, probably).
Save for our P*P because he is great but there is only so much he can do, Nick and I are both feeling very angry and exasperated AF by the American healthcare system. Because literally a year later almost to the f**king date 🥲 I am now being told I need ✨another✨ colonoscopy, this time with biopsies as when the two strictures were identified last September they weren’t actively bleeding, so the decision was basically, ‘they look benign enough for now; surgery (for endometriosis + hysterectomy earlier this year) can deal with the rest.’ 😭 but surgery very much did not deal with it lmao because my bowel still wasn’t checked during surgery. It’s “risky”, I get it. But you want to know what’s also risky? Living with strictures (including one that is just over a foot long with the very real risk of bowel obstruction), lmao.🥲
My iron stores never recovered and now after this episode, and somehow I, an actual living breathing furnace, has to step out into the inferno to warm up, lmao. I am still trying to navigate life with the strictures until I figure out why I keep bleeding and what is causing them so just trying to navigate life and eating around my body acting like a perpetual traffic jam, like, “M’am, STOP IMMEDIATELY! This road is closed. 😭🛑” and then every morning I wake up and pass some gas, I feel relieved because every fart is sacred lmao. No fart is squandered with strictures. 😭 Absolutely not sorry.
TL;DR: this morbid corvid is facing another colonoscopy (with biopsies this time) next month for ongoing bleeding after surviving my first literally a year ago?? 😭 and she and her husband are very much not happy about it (Nick has words 😅) and also equally exhausted and feeling utterly betrayed by my body again. I am also scared. We are both trying to cope with this chapter opening up again that we thought was behind us with dark humor as is our usual way. 🥲🖤
Processing times and response times will be a bit longer while I navigate this season again. 🫶🏻
