Thereβs something pretty damn special about getting to create for the place where your own story started.
This is the FIRST of many fun banners Iβll be creating for Strasburg Elementary this year, the same school I grew up in and where my niece and nephews now make their own memories. Iβve been asked to help bring some extra creativity to the schoolβs parties and activities throughout the year, and honestly, that means more to me than I can put into words.
I still remember the giant cutout 100s for the 100th day of school and getting the coolest pencils out of those little machines. Funny how the smallest things stick with you. Now, years later, I get to create something that might become a small part of someone elseβs childhood memories.
And if thereβs one thing I hope these banners do, itβs remind a kid out there that itβs OK to be different. Itβs OK to love art, get messy, think outside the box, and create something with your own two hands. You donβt have to play a sport or fit into anyone elseβs mold to find your thing. Sometimes, your thing is a paintbrush and a whole lot of imagination.
Life has a funny way of bringing things full circle. Getting to give back to a school that holds so many memories for me, while watching the next generation make their own, is something Iβll never take for granted.
Small town roots, big creativity, and a whole lot of gratitude for the community that continues to show up and support what I do.
Hereβs to making memories, thinking differently, and leaving a little color wherever we go.
