🦠 Not every biohazard is something you can see.

And some of the things that may surprise you as potential biohazard materials include:

🦇🚨 FLORIDA BAT EXCLUSION SEASON IS NOW OPEN! 🚨🦇

⭐️DID YOU KNOW?⭐️

As of August 15, Florida’s bat maternity season has ended which means homeowners and property managers can once again have bats properly and legally excluded from structures.

👂If you’ve been hearing scratching or chirping in your attic, seeing bats leaving your roofline around dusk, noticing dark staining around entry points, or finding guano (bat droppings) in your attic, NOW is the time to address it.

But there’s something extremely important homeowners need to understand:

⚠️ REMOVING THE BATS IS ONLY HALF THE JOB.

Once a colony has been properly and humanely excluded, you may still be left with months or even years of contamination inside your attic, walls, soffits, insulation, or other areas of the structure.

Bat contamination can include:

🦇 Guano accumulation
🦇 Urine contamination
🦇 Contaminated insulation
🦇 Strong, persistent odors
🦇 Roosting and nesting debris
🦇 Contaminated wood and building materials
🦇 Airborne dust created when contaminated material is disturbed

Bat droppings can also be associated with Histoplasma, a fungus that can grow in soil or material containing large amounts of bird or bat droppings. Disturbing contaminated material can potentially send fungal spores into the air.

PLEASE DO NOT simply grab a shop vacuum and start cleaning heavy bat guano yourself.
