NIGHT SHIFT ON C-470!

While most of Jefferson County is winding down for the night, our crews are just getting started.

The Asphalt Specialties Wolfpack is out on C-470, milling out the old surface and putting fresh pavement back down. From the milling machines to the rollers, lowboys, trucks, plant crews, operators, laborers and support teams, it takes a whole crew working together to keep a nighttime paving operation moving safely and efficiently.

Working at night brings its own challenges: limited visibility, traffic moving nearby, heavy equipment constantly on the move and a tight window to get the work completed before the morning commute.

But that’s what we do.

Mill it. Pave it. Roll it. Get it ready for tomorrow.

A big thank you to everyone putting in the long nights and doing the work behind the scenes to keep Colorado moving.

Test strip complete on C-470 westbound at Wadsworth Boulevard!

After milling down the worn asphalt, our crews placed a 500-ton test strip overnight — a short section of pavement that lets us dial in the mix, paving speed, temperature, thickness, smoothness, and compaction before full production begins.

This step is what makes sure the rest of the roadway goes down right the first time. Measure twice, pave once.

Great work from the whole crew getting this laid down safely overnight. Full production paving is next.

Please continue to slow down, stay alert, and give our crews room to work.

Work is underway on C-470 westbound at Wadsworth Boulevard as part of a Colorado Department of Transportation project!

We’ve started milling, which means removing the worn top layer of asphalt to create a clean, even surface for new pavement. Milling helps eliminate ruts, cracks, bumps, and other roadway damage while improving how the new asphalt bonds to the existing road.

Next, our crews will place a test strip. This short section allows us to verify the asphalt mix, paving speed, temperature, thickness, smoothness, and compaction before full production begins.

It’s the roadway version of “measure twice, pave once.”

Please slow down, stay alert, and give our crews room to work.

Celebrating 250 Years of America!

As the United States prepares to celebrate its 250th birthday, Asphalt Specialties is proud to help mark this historic milestone.

You may notice these commemorative 250th anniversary stickers appearing on our trucks and equipment throughout the community. They are a small symbol of our appreciation for the country we call home and the generations of hardworking Americans who have helped build it.

For decades, Asphalt Specialties has been proud to build and maintain the roads that keep Colorado moving. As America celebrates 250 years, we remain committed to helping pave the way toward its future.

Happy 250th Birthday, America!

️ Happy Father’s Day from Asphalt Specialties!

Today, we recognize the hardworking dads, grandfathers, stepdads, mentors, and father figures who help build strong families, strong communities, and a strong Wolfpack.

Thank you for the long days, early mornings, guidance, patience, and dad jokes that somehow keep getting reused year after year. Your dedication makes a difference both at work and at home.

From everyone at Asphalt Specialties, we wish all the dads out there a safe, relaxing, and very happy Father’s Day!

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

At Arlington National Cemetery, the tradition of “Flags In” places American flags at the gravesites of those who served. Each flag stands for more than a name carved in stone. It represents a life, a family, a sacrifice, and someone who did not come home.

As many of us gather with family and friends this weekend, fire up the grill, and enjoy the freedoms we are blessed with, we also remember the cost of those freedoms.

To the fallen, we owe more than a moment of silence. We owe remembrance, gratitude, and the responsibility to never take this life for granted.

From all of us at Asphalt Specialties, have a safe Memorial Day weekend.

We build the roadways. They paved the way.

🔥 Safety stays sharp when skills stay fresh.

As part of our annual MSHA renewals, the Wolfpack at Asphalt Specialties completed Fire Extinguisher Training to review proper extinguisher use, emergency response, and the importance of acting quickly and safely in the event of a fire.

Training like this helps keep our crews prepared, confident, and ready to protect themselves and those around them on every job site.

Safety is not just a requirement. It is part of who we are.
