School is back, and suddenly your house is holding a lot more than it was two weeks ago. 😂

Backpacks. Shoes. Lunch boxes. Water bottles. Artwork. Library books. Sports gear. And approximately 47 things your kids insist they absolutely need.

The solution isn’t always adding another piece of furniture—it’s designing storage into the spaces you already have.

A few of our favorite nonconventional solutions:
• Dedicated shelves within a built-in bookshelf for backpacks and everyday essentials
• Hidden shoe drawers built right into an entryway
• Storage that looks like part of the architecture instead of an afterthought

Because when everything has a home, mornings run a little smoother—and your home doesn’t have to look like a school supply aisle by 3 p.m.

Good design should work hard for real life, especially when real life comes home with a backpack.

There’s something about a moody room that just feels… right.

Deep purple with a hit of turquoise. Clay red paired with natural artwork. Warm tan and orange drapery against soft blue. Rustic blue cabinetry grounded by oak.

The common thread? Nothing feels too perfect. The colors are layered, the materials have warmth, and every room has a little bit of tension that makes you want to stay awhile.

This is the kind of design we love: soulful, unexpected, and deeply personal. Because the best spaces aren’t just beautiful—they feel like you.

Which one would you live in?

Your home shouldn’t just photograph beautifully—it should support the life you’re building inside it.

The homes we design aren’t created for social media. They’re designed for slow mornings at the kitchen island, dinner parties that linger long after dessert, kids doing homework at the counter, and quiet evenings that help you recharge.

That’s what approachable luxury means to us: creating spaces that feel elevated without ever feeling untouchable.

Because the best interiors don’t ask you to live differently—they make everyday life feel just a little more beautiful.

Kitchen or basement? Which renovation do you think costs more?

The answer isn’t as simple as comparing square footage.

A kitchen renovation may come with a higher investment in cabinetry, countertops, appliances, and finishes. A basement renovation may require more behind-the-scenes work to make the space livable in the first place—framing, insulation, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and more.

Then you add the fun stuff. 😉 Custom built-ins. A wet bar. A fireplace. A home theater. A beautiful guest suite.

The real lesson? Don’t budget by the room. Budget by the scope.

Because the cost of a renovation has far more to do with what you’re changing than what room you’re changing.

Save this before your next renovation conversation.
