Happy Pride from your friends at Copperline!
The June newsletter is going out in just a few minutes and my little suncatcher decided to put on a show while I was pulling it together. I don't get a ton of direct light in my apartment, so when moments like this happen, I always try to savor them. Fitting that it's Pride Month after all!
I feel grateful to have been raised in a family that always leads with love and curiosity and I am saddened that that is not the case for many of my friends and loved ones who identify as LGBT+. When I started Copperline, I knew I wanted it to be a place where everyone felt safe to be themselves - a place where people were excited to learn about plants and find connections with like-minded humans. I am so proud that the feedback we hear reflects this and that so many view the shop as a safe space.
We are proud to support, and be supported by, our LGBT+ Community each and every day - especially during pride month! We will always stand with our friends, neighbors, family members, coworkers, and customers - and we will always stand against racism, homophobia, sexism, and injustice of any kind.
Many of my teammates joke about the shop being "q***r run and ally owned" (✌️ ~☆ALLY ☆~ ✌️) and I struggle to find the "right" thing to say as a business this time of year, because lord knows there is enough rainbow capitalism and performative allyship out there, but I also know that saying nothing is never the answer.
