This wedding gift represents multiple generations for the bride and groom. Incorporating several sentimental items from the previous generation’s weddings into this collage was a layout exercise in balance and harmony. But the gift giver was excited and extremely happy with the results of this design. It will being shipped off to the bride and groom to enjoy and be displayed at their wedding.

A classical, expressionist painting (print) deserved a museum look presentation. This painting “Liebespaar” (The Lovers) was created in 1919 by German artist Otto Mueller. And this customer sought a classic, almost earthy palette to accent his artwork. With this soft mixed toned dark block frame and an antique gold accent inner frame, the prominent museum look he wanted was achieved.

And at pickup his first comment was “perfect!”

This years Mn State Fair Fine Arts artist winners are Amy Carter and Scott Zimmermann! Framing Solutions awards 2 artists for their “Best use of frame with art”. While there were a number of contenders- these two artists “presentation” were well thought out, proportional, and fully cohesive with their artwork. Thank you to my colleagues, and fellow judges, Lora Hanson and Luci Hollenkamp for their “time and lively discussions” during the judging process!

Please take the time to view and support all the Artists work in the Minnesota State fair Fine Art’s competition this year. There are truly exceptional Artists in our state.

This striking original pastel was just picked up by its owner. It depicts her days working as a nurse in 3rd world communities. With the pastels angular crisp likes and subtle tones, a classic matting was chosen along with a clean angular frame. Such amazing artwork, and I hope, complimented with this custom framing design.

Any Stevie Nicks fans out there? This small oval hologram of Stevie Nicks was a bit tricky. As an exercise in color theory, with changing color tones of the hologram itself, too light of mats wouldn’t highlight it, and too dark of mats would have overpowered it. Finding a great “neutral” with some violet undertones allowed the hologram to be the star of this presentation. This rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Famer shines for all to see!
