The ’70s called… and I’m here for the wood paneling comeback! 🤎

I was thrilled to share my thoughts with Better Homes & Gardens on the resurgence of retro wood paneling, and why I believe this nostalgic design detail deserves a fresh look.

I've always loved working with natural wood. The warmth, texture, and character it brings to a space are hard to replicate. But for me, it's never about following a trend just because it's having a moment. It's about choosing beautiful, quality materials that feel authentic to the home and the people living in it.

When done thoughtfully, wood paneling can feel just as timeless as it does nostalgic.

A big thank you to Better Homes & Gardens for including my perspective!

✨ Curious about the comeback? Head to the link in my bio to read the full article, and follow along for more of my thoughts on creating beautiful, personal, and timeless interiors.

Now I'm curious… would you embrace natural wood paneling in your home, or are you more of a painted paneling person?

Beautiful spaces are only part of the story. 🤍

The best interior design experiences begin with something less visible: feeling understood.

This thoughtful 5-star Google review means so much to me because it speaks to what I value most: listening closely, understanding how my clients want to live, and making the design journey feel as enjoyable as the finished space.

“Renee is an absolute joy to work with. Her intuitive design sense and high emotional IQ set her apart. She effortlessly blends interpersonal nuance with professionalism, making an often overwhelming process enjoyable.”

Thoughtful design. Genuine connection. A home that feels entirely like you.

Thank you, Julie, for these incredibly kind words!

Planning a 2027 renovation? Now is the time to start.

The best renovations don’t begin with demolition. They begin months earlier with thoughtful planning, a clear design direction, realistic budgeting, and the right team in place.

If you’re considering a kitchen renovation, bathroom renovation, or whole-home project on the Seacoast of New Hampshire, starting now gives you time to make decisions intentionally rather than under pressure.

That means thinking through how you want your home to function, refining the floor plan, selecting materials, coordinating with your builder, and making sure all the pieces work together before construction begins.

I always encourage clients to bring their interior designer into the process early. The sooner we’re involved, the more opportunity we have to solve problems before they become expensive changes and to create a home that feels cohesive from the very beginning.

If a 2027 renovation is on your mind, you’re not too early. You’re right on time. 😊

Before you fall in love with a tile, make these 5 decisions first.

I get it, it’s tempting to start with the fun part first, like selecting tile, stone, hardware, paint colors. But the most successful bathroom renovations begin with the decisions that determine how the room will actually work.

Before choosing finishes, think through:

1. How you need the bathroom to function (aka what's been bugging you about the layout for all these years?)
Who uses the space? Do two people need to get ready at the same time every day? Do you need more storage, a double vanity, a separate water closet, or better circulation?

2. The layout and plumbing locations
Where should the shower, tub, vanity, and toilet go? And is moving plumbing worth the investment? Even a beautiful tile selection can’t fix an awkward layout.

3. Your storage needs (girls, I'm talking to you! 😜)
Where will towels, toiletries, hair tools, medicine, and everyday essentials actually live? Storage should be designed in from the beginning, not squeezed in later.

4. Your lighting plan (please, no harsh overhead lighting!)
A bathroom needs more than one overhead fixture. Think task lighting, ambient lighting, shower lighting, and natural light. Lighting affects both how the room functions and how every finish looks.

5. How you want the room to feel
Calm and spa-like? Bright and energizing? Warm and cocooning? Once you know the feeling you want to create, choosing materials becomes much easier.

The tile matters, of course. But it should support the design, not lead it.

If you’re planning a bathroom renovation in Exeter, Portsmouth, or along the Seacoast of New Hampshire, start with the big decisions first. The finishes will follow.

If a 2027 renovation is even remotely on your radar, this is the part I want you to know now: your project probably needs to start sooner than you think.

Every fall, I hear some version of the same thing: “We’re thinking about renovating our kitchen next year.” And usually, “next year” means spring.

But a successful renovation doesn’t begin when demo starts. It begins months earlier with the right team, space planning, design decisions, permits, contractor scheduling, cabinetry, windows, and all the long-lead pieces that need to be in place before construction ever begins.

That’s exactly what my newest blog is about: Why your 2027 Seacoast NH renovation actually starts now.

I’m walking through the timeline I use with clients, why bringing your designer, builder, and architect together early matters, and how thoughtful planning can help avoid the kind of delays that leave you without a kitchen far longer than necessary.

If you’re in the New Hampshire Seacoast area and you’ve been thinking about a kitchen renovation, primary bathroom, or larger whole-home project, this is a good one to read before the holidays arrive.

Because “next year” feels far away...until you work backward from the day you want construction to begin.

Read the new blog at the link below, and if a 2027 renovation is on your wish list, now is the time to start the conversation.

If you’ve been putting off renovating your bathroom, consider this your sign that it’s time. ✨

Imagine sinking into a warm soaking tub on a chilly New England evening, or starting your morning in a beautifully designed shower that feels more like a retreat than part of your daily routine.

Bathrooms are often one of the last spaces homeowners renovate because they can simply close the door and forget about them. But the spaces you use every single day deserve just as much thought, beauty, and intention as the rest of your home.

For this gorgeous primary bathroom in Portsmouth, NH, I created a space designed to feel calm, luxurious, and restorative. A place to begin and end the day feeling refreshed.

Ready to transform your own bathroom into a space you love? Mandeville Canyon Interior Design helps homeowners throughout the New Hampshire Seacoast create thoughtful, timeless interiors designed for the way they live.

Fall decorating doesn’t have to mean orange, black, and a sea of rust. 🍂

I’m a sucker for color year-round, so when fall rolls around, I’d much rather work with a palette that feels seasonal and still feels like me.

Think moody blue pumpkins, fresh greens, warm wood tones, soft candlelight, and just a hit of sunny yellow. It still feels cozy and autumnal, just a little less expected.

The best seasonal decorating should work with your home, not take it over. You don’t need to abandon your favorite colors just because the calendar says October.

So if traditional fall colors aren’t your thing, consider this your permission slip to decorate the season your way. 💙💚💛

Make it a pantry. But make it special.

Because the rooms that work the hardest don’t have to be the ones you overlook.

Tucked just beyond the kitchen, this custom pantry was designed to feel like its own little moment: moody blue cabinetry, warm brass details, a playful patterned backdrop, and that glowing light fixture framed perfectly by the arched opening.

Functional? Of course.

But also beautiful enough to make you want to leave the door open.

This is what thoughtful kitchen design looks like to me. It’s not just choosing countertops and cabinet colors, it’s considering every space connected to the kitchen and asking: How can this work better? How can it feel more intentional? And where can we add a little delight?

A pantry can handle storage, prep, cleanup, and all the everyday necessities that keep the main kitchen feeling calm. But when it’s custom designed for the way you live, it can also become one of the most memorable spaces in your home.

If you’re renovating your kitchen, don’t stop at the kitchen. The best projects consider how every adjoining space can make your home more functional, more beautiful, and more uniquely yours.

The hood was never meant to "blend in".

In this custom Portsmouth kitchen, it became part of the architecture, and part of the art.

The sculptural shape, warm wood detail, and patterned tile create a focal point that gives the entire kitchen its personality. But the beauty of this space isn’t only in what catches your eye.

It’s also in what quietly makes the kitchen work.

The custom cabinetry was designed to do so much more than store. It creates rhythm and balance, makes use of every inch, keeps the room feeling calm and cohesive, and gives everyday necessities a thoughtful place to live.

That’s the difference between choosing beautiful finishes and designing a kitchen as a whole.

Every cabinet. Every proportion. Every material. Every sightline. Considered together so the finished space feels effortless, even though nothing about it was accidental.

If you’re planning a custom kitchen renovation in Portsmouth or along the New Hampshire Seacoast, this is where working with an interior designer from the beginning can change everything.

Ready to create a kitchen that works beautifully and feels entirely your own? Let’s talk. ✨

What if your bathroom renovation is really the beginning of reimagining your whole home?

A bathroom is often where the conversation starts. Maybe the layout no longer works. The finishes feel dated. Or you’re ready for a primary bath that feels less utilitarian and a lot more like a retreat.

But when I walk into a home, I’m never looking at just one room.

I’m thinking about how that bathroom connects to the primary suite. The lighting. The storage. The flow into the next space. And whether the choices we make today will support what you may want to do throughout your home tomorrow.

That’s why I believe the best renovations start with a thoughtful plan...and with your interior designer involved before demolition begins.

In my latest blog, I’m sharing why hiring an interior designer for your bathroom remodel can lead to a more beautiful, functional, cohesive home…and why sometimes the bathroom is only the beginning.

And if you’re considering a bathroom remodel, primary suite renovation, or a larger home renovation in Exeter, Portsmouth, Rye, or along the Seacoast of New Hampshire, I’d love to hear what you’re dreaming about.

Start with the bathroom. Design with the whole home in mind.
