: "My tree's roots are exposed: what should I do?"

Exposed roots can happen from erosion, foot traffic, or just a naturally shallow root system. While some exposure is totally normal, significant exposure can stress your tree and make it more vulnerable to disease and instability. The fix isn't to bury them; a light layer of mulch might do the trick.

June is the time to check your trees for !

These pests are active right now across Eastern and can be easy to miss until the damage is already done. Look for small, shell-like bumps along branches and stems, sticky residue on leaves, or unexplained yellowing and dieback. Shrubs like euonymus and magnolias are especially vulnerable this time of year.

: "What causes sawdust around the base of my pine tree?"

That "sawdust" is actually called frass. It usually means wood-boring insects, often , have moved in. These pests are especially common in Eastern and , where they burrow under the bark, weaken the tree, and open the door to disease.
