Passionate Home I specialize in expert refinishing, new finishing, and touch-ups for kitchen and bath cabinets, furniture and more.

I do meticulous work, offer design and color assistance, and use the highest-quality European coatings made specifically for cabinetry. Our cabinetry, furniture, and other architectural woodwork finishes are done from step one to the end with great care and attention to detail. Our clients expect a factory-like finish that looks and feels beautiful and wears well. We never skip steps as doing so w

ill lead to chipping, scratching, and cracked finishes. While brushing and rolling might be desirable for wall and house painting, all of our finishes are professionally sprayed unless a brushed/glazed finish is specified. We use the highest-quality professional paint and stain products, most of which are non-toxic and do not harm the environment. I am a color specialist and remodeling consultant outside of finishing and as an integral part of a cabinet project. I also conduct home seller's reviews that provide an independent, brass tacks analysis of the things a seller (or realtor) should do in order to receive the most rapid home sale for the highest price. Most kitchen refinishing projects are in the range of $4,000 - $8,000.

Stop painting cabinets (poorly) for resale. I continue to see poorly painted cabinets, often done in white for resale. Every regular painting company and many homeowners are now painting cabinets. And, much of this work results in a poor job, even if those doing the work are fine with it.

Cabinets should not look like the ones in this photo. It takes proper processes, skill, professional equipment, industrial products (CV/2k poly), and time to deliver a beautiful, durable finish.

Poorly and/or improperly refinished cabinets hurt resale and make refinishing properly more difficult and expensive. The interesting thing is that many of the regular painters are not that inexpensive even though very few have the true expertise to deliver an outstanding result.

I had the opportunity to work in Steamboat Springs on cabinets in a gorgeous new home with spectacular views. I always enjoy working in the mountains in these incredible homes which are so unique from one another. There was a lot to do in this home because all of the inside was heavily detailed with real stone and that's what likely caused some of the damage to cabinetry. It's all good now!

Not all kitchen cabinets call for a full refinish. At times, just a handful need attention, as was the case with 12 cabinet doors and drawers in this kitchen that were under and around the sink and dishwasher.

AND, a brand new, bare wood cabinet for above the frig had to be matched to the original cabinets. The way to do this is through dyes and toners, and matching the original clear coat type. While my pics are not all showing the actual color :(lighting), the final match shows in the photo of the sink area and of the new cabinet box.

Some of my favorite projects are the small ones. It's amazing how small changes can drastically change something and create a new life and story.

These alabaster sconce light bases were dark verdigris and didn't feel right with the new lighting around them. The client wanted soft brass and contemplated getting rid of the sconces, but they were expensive and I knew that they could be modernized. They look amazing with the other lighting fixtures. Voila!

I have added select woodworking to what I offer clients. I only do smaller projects like this mudroom wall system and dressing up cabinets to look more like custom furniture.

This wainscot bench, shoe storage and coat rack will have a cushion, hardware from Ashley Norton or Rejuvenation, and a shelf for shoes in the lower middle section.

This was a smaller project but with a large outcome! These drywall niches in the main staircase looked odd, unfinished, and were not quite large enough to place anything of substance. Not to mention, the surface and surrounding wall areas were very uneven. After some drywall work, I gave the niches a "purpose" and a few more inches by building shelves with MDF and applying built-up mouldings, then sprayed 800 series in the home's trim color. I made the shelf patterns with paper, then cut the bases in 3/4" mdf and applied poplar mouldings to complement the trim in the home. Voila!

I recently finished this kitchen island. It was backed with drywall and the plain sides. I did the wood work to dress up the back of the island and cover the drywall, and I built around the drywall sides to create "legs," and added new base and panels with inset molding to complete the woodwork. The finish is ICA Coatings in Eider White with a custom taupe-grey glaze detail.
