✨Elegant. Powerful. Radiant. Exceptional. Admired.

Every w**e cellar company says it. Very few could prove it at 9 p.m. on a Saturday in a three-Michelin-star dining room.

Ours gets tested there. Eleven Madison Park. The Waldorf Astoria. Pinehurst. Doors opened hundreds of times a night by people who don’t have time for one to stick.

That’s the job. Your client’s cellar is built to the same one.

A European journey. A family legacy. A better way to store w**e.

Kessick began with a backpacking trip through Europe, where founder Robert Bass discovered a lasting appreciation for w**e, its traditions, and the craftsmanship behind it.

Inspired by those travels and his passion for design and woodworking, Robert teamed up with his father, Ralph, to create something better: beautifully crafted w**e storage built on quality, function, and attention to detail.

Even the name has a story. Inspired by Keswick, an English market town that left a lasting impression, Kessick was born.

What started as a father-and-son venture grew into a three-generation family business, guided by one simple belief: quality should never be compromised.

Today, that same commitment lives on in every Kessick w**e storage solution—where thoughtful design meets exceptional craftsmanship.

From a European inspiration to an American family legacy, our vision remains the same.

Partner with Kessick. Create something extraordinary. Leave your clients speechless.

A European journey. A family legacy. A better way to store w**e.

Before Kessick became a name synonymous with exceptional w**e storage, it all began with a backpacking trip through Europe.

As a young man traveling through the sprawling vineyards and timeworn cellars of Europe, Robert Bass developed a deep appreciation for w**e and the centuries-old traditions behind it. Later, armed with a building science degree from Clemson, Robert knew he had a passion for design and woodworking. What he hadn’t yet discovered was where those interests would lead.

Then he thought back to his travels—and to w**e.

One place, in particular, had stayed with him: Keswick, an English market town in Cumberland. With a small nod to the Bass family’s fondness for double “s” combinations, Robert replaced the “w” with an “s” and gave his new venture a name: Kessick.

But a name was only the beginning. The vision was to build something better.

Kessick started as a father-and-son venture, with Robert and his dad, Ralph, designing and constructing custom w**e cellars. Dissatisfied with the quality of the w**e racking systems available at the time, they set out to create their own—systems that reflected the craftsmanship, functionality, and attention to detail they believed exceptional w**e storage deserved.

That commitment became a defining principle of the business. As Kessick grew, Robert and Ralph made a deliberate choice: their products would never be reduced to kits for customers to assemble themselves. Instead, Kessick w**e storage systems would be delivered with fully assembled components, ready for installation like fine cabinetry. It was a decision rooted in their belief that quality should be built into every detail, not left to chance.

That commitment would become the Kessick difference.

What began as a small family endeavor has grown into a national supplier of premium w**e cabinetry and contemporary w**e storage systems, serving the professionals who bring extraordinary w**e spaces to life. As the business expanded, so did the family behind it.

True to their roots, Robert and Ralph built their team around people they knew and trusted. A brother, a sister, her husband, and several grandchildren joined the business, bringing three generations of the Bass family together under one roof. In time, Ralph retired, leaving behind more than a business he helped build—he left a legacy he could watch his family carry forward.

Today, Kessick represents more than exceptional w**e storage. It represents three generations of American craftsmanship, a family’s belief in doing things the right way, and an unwavering commitment to quality, thoughtful design, and enduring function.

From a journey through Europe to a family-owned American company, the vision remains the same: to create w**e storage where beauty and function come together, and where quality is never an afterthought.

Partner with Kessick. Create something extraordinary. Leave your clients speechless.

Anatomy of a cellar: Reserve Series in Walnut

This cellar by Charles River W**e Cellars is built from our Reserve Series in walnut with a walnut stain, with custom detailing carried from the cabinetry up through the coffered ceiling.

👉🏼Save this for your next cellar plan.

🔅Individual bottle racking. One bottle per opening. Any bottle can be pulled without disturbing the ones around it, which makes this the right format for w**es opened one at a time.

🔅Display rows. Angled shelves at counter height, lit from below, present bottles label-forward. This is where a collector stages what is coming up next or shows what matters most.

🔅Horizontal shelving. Bottles lie in stacked rows on solid shelves. This suits multiples of the same w**e and lets bottles stay in their original tissue wrap.

🔅Diamond bins. High-density storage for larger quantities of a single w**e. The most bottles in the least wall space.

🔅Case cubbies. Open bays below the counter take full wooden cases. Many collectors keep w**e in its original case for provenance and long-term value, and this gives those cases a permanent home.

🔅Serving niche. A recessed alcove holds glassware and the bottle in use, keeping service separate from storage.

🔅Custom Coffered ceiling. Walnut beams frame the room, and recessed fixtures direct light onto the racking without visible hardware overhead.

A well-planned cellar is not designed around a bottle count. It is designed around how the collection actually behaves: what arrives by the case, what gets opened this month, and what stays down for a decade. Mixed storage formats are how one room answers all three.

The precision in a Kessick w**e cellar starts long before installation.

Our custom w**e racking is built as box-construction cabinetry, joined with hidden fasteners, dowels, and Confirmat® screws. No flat-pack. No visible hardware. No compromise in structure.

Before anything ships, the entire room is assembled on our shop floor in Greenville, SC. Every wall, every rack, every transition is checked against the design.

Then each component is labeled by wall and location, so the install crew knows exactly where every piece belongs.

It is the same process behind Kessick hospitality projects at Eleven Madison Park, Waldorf Astoria, Rosewood Hotel DC, Wolfgang Puck’s CUT, and Pinehurst. Restaurants and hotels need cellars that perform under daily service, open on schedule, and look as good in year ten as they do on opening night.

Every residential w**e room we build is held to that same standard.

American-made custom w**e storage since 2004. Built exclusively for the trade.

Tag the friend who would choose the cellar over the vacation.🍷

If w**e storage could talk…

✨It would tell you the cooling was planned before the first rack went in, not added as an afterthought.

✨It would tell you every bottle has a place, from the everyday reds to the large formats no one knew where to put.

✨It would tell you it was made in Greenville, South Carolina, by a family that has been solving cellar problems since 2004.

Most w**e rooms fail quietly. The wrong racking, the wrong materials, a layout that wastes half the wall. Good storage does not ask for attention. It just works, for decades.

Designers, builders, and architects: bring us the difficult room. We will make it the one your client chooses.
