The Pool Was Already There. The Missing Piece Was Everything Around It. 💦

Take a look at this before-and-after transformation!

Before, the area surrounding this pool had patches of grass, exposed dirt, and limited usable space.

After, we transformed it with a spacious paver pool deck that follows the existing pool's curves and creates a much more inviting outdoor environment.

Now there's room for lounge chairs, relaxing by the water, and spending time with family and friends without stepping through uneven grass.

It's a great example of how upgrading the space around an existing feature can change the way you experience your entire backyard.

What do you think of this transformation?

A Patio With Room for Everyone

Some outdoor spaces are designed for a couple of chairs. Others give you the freedom to plan an entire afternoon outside.

This spacious paver patio offers plenty of room for gathering, entertaining, and relaxing without feeling crowded.

The light-colored pavers complement the home's brick exterior, while the covered area provides a natural transition between indoor and outdoor living.

From one angle, you see the complete entertaining space. From the other, you can appreciate the paving pattern, surface details, and how the patio connects to the house.

At Holistic Patio, we believe outdoor spaces should be designed around how homeowners actually want to live.

How would you use a patio this size: family gatherings, outdoor dining, or a relaxing lounge area?

A Backyard That Gives You More Reasons to Step Outside

Imagine finishing your day and having a comfortable outdoor space waiting for you.

That's the idea behind this beautiful paver patio.

Instead of creating one large, undefined area, we designed distinct spaces for different activities.

The main patio offers room for comfortable seating and conversation, while the circular section creates a dedicated place for outdoor dining.

The contrasting paver borders help define each area while keeping the entire design connected.

It's not just about adding square footage to your backyard. It's about making that space more enjoyable and functional for everyday life.

How would you spend your first evening here?

Let's bring your outdoor living ideas to life.

Why Did This Paver Patio Cost Almost $30,000?

When homeowners see a patio estimate, it's natural to wonder where the money is going.

For this project, the biggest cost factors weren't necessarily the pavers themselves. They were the challenges we needed to address before and during installation.

First, drainage.

The property had water flowing down from a hill, and our priority was directing that water away from the swimming pool.

Managing drainage was an important part of planning this patio correctly.

Second, the foundation underneath the pavers.

We installed 5.5 inches of aggregate base, compacted in 3-inch lifts.

That preparation helps create the stable foundation needed for long-term patio performance.

Third, protecting the existing pool.

This homeowner has a vinyl liner pool, which can be damaged by flying stone, debris, or material during demolition and installation.

We included approximately $1,000 in the project budget to cover and protect the pool while our team worked.

And we completed the project without damaging it.

These are the details that don't always stand out in finished project photos, but they matter when it comes to protecting the homeowner's investment.

At Holistic Patio, we believe understanding the work behind the price helps homeowners make better decisions.

Did you know drainage and pool protection could have such a big impact on patio costs?

3 Questions Every Homeowner Should Ask Before Hiring a Contractor

Hiring someone to work on your home is a big decision. And while it's easy to focus on pricing, materials, and the finished design, there are a few important questions you should ask first.

1. Are you licensed and insured?
Texas does not require a general contractor license statewide, but certain cities have their own registration or licensing requirements.
Ask whether your contractor meets the requirements for your city, and request documentation of their insurance.

2. Will you handle HOA approvals and city permits?
Some contractors take care of these steps. Others leave the responsibility to the homeowner.
Knowing who handles the paperwork can save you a lot of time and confusion.

3. Who will be managing the project and communicating with me?
Will you have one main point of contact throughout construction, or will you need to coordinate with multiple people?
This isn't about whether a company uses subcontractors. It's about knowing who is responsible for answering questions and keeping the project organized.

At Holistic Patio, we encourage homeowners to ask these questions before hiring anyone, including us.

A good contractor should be willing to explain their process and help you understand what to expect.

Which of these questions would you ask first?

Planning an outdoor living project? We'd love to have a conversation.

It's the Small Details That Bring the Whole Patio Together.

Take a closer look at the curved border on this paver patio.

The darker pavers create a beautiful contrast against the lighter surface, while the curved design helps define the separate outdoor spaces.

Now look at the full backyard.

That same curved border connects a spacious lounge area to a rounded dining space, giving the homeowners two different ways to enjoy their patio without making the design feel disconnected.

At Holistic Patio, we believe the little details matter just as much as the overall layout.

Because a great patio should look beautiful up close and make sense as a complete outdoor living space.

Would you choose a curved patio design or keep everything straight?

DIY Patio vs. Professional Installation: Is Saving Money Worth the Risk?

We've all seen those YouTube tutorials that make building a patio look like a simple weekend project.

And while many homeowners successfully install their own patios, there's something those quick tutorials don't always show.

The hardest part usually isn't laying the pavers. It's preparing everything underneath them.

Excavation, drainage, grading, and proper compaction are critical steps that affect how your patio performs over the years.

If those details aren't handled correctly, you could eventually deal with uneven pavers, shifting surfaces, or drainage problems.

That's where professional experience makes a difference.

At Holistic Patio, we bring the equipment, installation knowledge, and experience needed to approach each project correctly.

But there's another important benefit: accountability.

We back every project with exceptional customer service and our 5-year craftsmanship warranty.

We believe homeowners should understand their options before making a decision. DIY can be the right choice for some people, while professional installation provides others with the confidence they're looking for.

So here's the question: Would you rather save on installation costs or have a professional team standing behind the work?

More Shade, More Comfort, More Reasons to Stay Outside.

A patio cover can completely change how often you use your outdoor space.

Instead of planning around the sun, you can create a comfortable place for weekend cookouts, family gatherings, or simply relaxing after a long day.

Take a closer look at the details of this covered patio:

The warm wood ceiling and accent wall add character, while the recessed lighting and mounted television bring some of the comforts of indoor living outside.

It's a great example of how a patio cover can offer more than protection from the sun. It can make your backyard feel like another room in your home.

What feature would be a must-have in your covered patio?

Let's plan your outdoor upgrade!
