What does the future of engineering education look like?

At Texas A&M University‘s Zachry Engineering Education Complex, the answer goes beyond traditional classrooms and laboratories. The transformed facility brings together learning environments with a makerspace, design center and spaces that encourage students to work collaboratively, experiment and put ideas into practice.

The project represents a shift toward a more student-centered model of engineering education, where learning happens through making, problem-solving and interaction.

We're proud to have been part of a project designed to support the next generation of Aggie engineers.

At Kinder HSPVA, the building itself had to perform.

Working with Gensler, HarrisonKornberg designed the educational and studio spaces within Houston ISD's five-story home for young artists. The vertically-organized campus brings together an 800-seat theater, black box theater, recital hall, recording studio, dance studios, visual arts spaces, music facilities and academic learning centers within one downtown site.

Daylit gathering areas, lobby seating and a rooftop courtyard give students opportunities to connect, collaborate and create outside the classroom.

For a school built around the arts, every space becomes part of the creative experience.

A successful college experience happens in more places than just the classroom.

At the University of Houston-Downtown's Student Wellness and Success Center, fitness, recreation, learning and connection come together under one roof. The 75,000-square-foot facility includes a three-court gymnasium, elevated running track, bouldering wall, fitness spaces and a demonstration kitchen, alongside areas for studying, socializing and collaborative lessons in health and wellness.

Elevated above the White Oak Bayou floodplain, the building also takes advantage of its location with expansive glass and views of the downtown Houston skyline.

Our team delivered a space designed to support the whole student: academically, socially, and physically.

Back to school means returning to spaces built for learning, collaboration and the opportunities that come next.

Our renovation and addition at O.D. Wyatt High School modernized one of Fort Worth ISD’s longstanding campuses while the school remained fully operational. Along with upgraded common areas, science classrooms, fine arts spaces and the media center, the project added a new two-story Career and Technical Education building with spaces for engineering and STEM, robotics, health sciences, business and marketing, arts/AV, and more.

The result is a campus that honors O.D. Wyatt’s history while giving today’s students more ways to explore what their futures could hold.

Happy National Aviation Day! ✈️

Innovation in aviation is not limited to what happens in the air. At George Bush Intercontinental Airport, HarrisonKornberg designed Airlines' first-of-its-kind Virtual Ramp Control Tower and Command Center, replacing the traditional tower view with technology that gives controllers a 360-degree view of the apron, taxiways and aircraft activity.

Designed around the people managing one of the airport's most complex environments, the facility brings technology, visibility and operations together in one highly specialized space.

We're proud to have helped create a new way of looking at airport operations, literally.

Have you seen the new Lone Star College-Magnolia Center? 🤩 This is the first building on a new campus created to expand access to higher education in a rapidly growing community.

Designed by HarrisonKornberg Architects, the 50,000-square-foot facility supports academic learning and workforce training through science and computer labs, general classrooms, and dedicated spaces for HVAC, paramedic, and EMT programs. A library, student services, study areas, and flexible gathering spaces further support students throughout their educational journey.

Set beside a small lake, the building was thoughtfully positioned to preserve the site’s mature trees while connecting classrooms and shared spaces to views of the surrounding landscape.
