Currently living in LOVEBUG hell. This is one of the worst years I believe we have had since I’ve lived in southeast Texas. Normally, I good drenching rain will get rid of them. But 14 inches of rain did nothing last week. We are ready to paint the interior of this house and these things are crawling everywhere!!! I feel like the guy on caddyshack trying to figure out how to get rid of them. Aside from a shop vac, to suck them out of a closed up house, I don’t know.?? They love paint and I don’t want them stuck to my crown molding. 🤔🙄 Our trucks are covered with them. You can’t even see our license plate numbers.

Picking colors and following trends is tricky. When you’re building homes and you have thousands of dollars on the line, there’s not a lot of room for error. Trying to figure out where we are in a trend and how much longer is that color scheme going to be what every body wants is a job for the company ghost. I need a crystal ball…This place could be a reality tv show around here because Jim and I have different ideas about color. I know that is a surprise. So, at night when I’m trying to sleep I’m thinking….Are neutrals coming back? Are we still riding the wave with all white? Is brass creeping back in? Remember when we were kids and everybody had brass? I remember a day when I could NOT sell a house with a white refrigerator in it….things a builder thinks about in the middle of the night

It has been incredibly hot. Our framing crew starts at dawn and leaves early. Been watching them closely because a couple of them got way too hot this week. Jim and I have set up a cooling tent for them to get out of the sun. I’m telling you, dawn just doesn’t seem early enough for what I have to do in a day. I look behind me and think “I must have been spinning my wheels because I sure can’t tell that I made a dent in what I set out to finish today” Every morning I wake up to the sound of the log trucks rolling thru town and peak out the window to see if the sun has come up. Dang it, there it is again🤣🤣 Suns up guns up!

There’s something about this property… I wanted to make sure that we put the house in the right spot. We wanted it to sit off of the road, have room for a barn and make the most out of the view. Jim and I chose a high spot on the property that overlooks the pond and cypress, but also has a great view in the back of the pasture. I think the cows next door are a little aggravated at us because they really liked our shade trees and the pond was their swimming hole. 🤣🤣 When I’m bush hogging the pasture they stand at the fence and watch. I think they miss their cow spa.

Today was concrete day on the new spec house. We’ve been dancing with rain clouds for weeks now. Can’t rely on anything when it comes to weather forecast🙄 Even though we stayed kinda dry this weekend, we had a heavy dew this morning. Wet grass and concrete trucks don’t mix. What a morning….stuck like chuck a couple of times….LAWDY. Felt like we were wrestling pregnant whales on dry land. Perseverance was key along with help from several friends, we got it DONE. Glad to see this baby started finally🤦‍♀️💥
