🔨 ANOTHER STEP CLOSER TO OPENING DAY! 💈✂️

The Skulls & Scruffs Barbershop transformation continues in the Oregon District!

Everything has been moved out of the work area, the existing flooring has been scraped, cleaned, and properly prepped, and the custom-made starter strips have been removed — leaving us with a clean, prepared surface and ready to rock this morning! 💪

We’re getting closer every day to seeing this new barbershop come to life! Skulls & Scruffs is set to open September 15th at:

With the grand opening coming September 15th, the transformation is well underway! We’ve officially completed the reframing and new subfloors throughout the shop, and we’re now halfway through installing the new waterproof LVP flooring.

Every cut, every measurement, and every detail is being completed with the craftsmanship and attention to detail our customers have come to expect.

Progress Update
BlackOut Construction is making serious progress on the upcoming Skulls & Scruffs Barbershop in Dayton’s historic Oregon District!

As we opened things up, we discovered extensive water damage caused by the previous owners’ wash chair, along with additional damage in the bathroom.

To properly correct the problem—not just cover it up—we’re carefully removing the damaged flooring and subflooring all the way down to the joists. This includes removing the existing 1/2" layer and both layers of the original 3/4" tongue-and-groove flooring.

From there, we’re rebuilding it the right way, installing new materials and bringing everything back flush and level with the existing floor throughout the shop.

This is exactly why “It’s in the Cut” isn’t just a slogan—it’s our commitment to paying attention to the details, addressing problems at their source, and doing the job correctly from the ground up.
