From cramped and outdated to a bright, open, and functional family hub! 🛠️✨
This kitchen transformation was a massive undertaking, but the results speak for themselves. We started with a serious teardown, removing an old pantry cabinet, an alcove standing desk, outdated blue mosaic tile, the old farmhouse sink, and the range hood.
To completely change the flow of the room, we focused on the peninsula area. We removed the floating upper cabinet that completely blocked the view and the light, and knocked down the restrictive bar-height knee wall. By lowering it flush with the existing white oak cabinets, we opened up a massive, continuous workspace and allowed natural light to flood across the kitchen and dining areas.
Here are some of the standout features of this complete overhaul:
• Peninsula Upgrade: Wrapped the exterior of the newly lowered knee wall in rift-sawn white oak panels crafted to seamlessly match the original door styles.
• Custom Range Hood: Fabricated and installed a sleek, painted range hood equipped with modern motion-activated touchless controls for ultimate convenience while cooking.
• Problem-Solving Pantry: Fabricated and installed new paint-grade pantry cabinets packed with storage features—including integrated spice racks, rollout lower shelves, and heavy-duty drawers. We designed custom tapered legs for the base so the units safely float directly above the existing baseboard boiler heaters without blocking the heat. We then topped it off with a custom 2-piece crown molding matched to the home's existing trim profiles.
• Statement Countertops & Backsplashes: Installed stunning MSI Solitaj quartz countertops, featuring a show-stopping custom brass inlay at the seam and a custom apron front. On the sink side of the kitchen, we carried the quartz up the wall for a striking, seamless full-height splash. For a beautiful contrast on the stove side, we installed a classic 4x4 tile backsplash. These tops were beautifully fabricated and installed by a trusted company Action Countertops Inc we work with regularly to ensure a flawless finish.
• Premium Workstation Sink & Custom Plumbing: Swapped the old sink for a high-performance stainless steel workstation model complete with a built-in cutting board, drainage rack, and vegetable washer, backed by a brand-new garbage disposal. We outfitted it with a beautiful new two-handle faucet, a separate hand sprayer, and an integrated soap dispenser. We also added a brand-new pot filler over at the stove—all custom-selected in a matching design to anchor the room.
• Finishing Touches & Hardware: Updated all the cabinet handles, drawer pulls, light switch covers, and outlet covers to a stunning polished brass, beautifully tying the entire room's hardware into the custom brass countertop inlay and plumbing fixtures.
• Upgraded Lighting & Power: Brought in our expert electrician to run a dedicated circuit for the disposal, fix a few faulty existing switches, and install beautiful LED under-cabinet lighting—all effortlessly controlled on a single dimmer switch.
We finished the entire transformation with a fresh coat of paint covering all the walls, ceilings, and trim across the kitchen, pantry, and dining room. The whole space now overflows with natural light, going from feeling boxed-in and trapped to a comfortable, open, and welcoming environment for the family to gather and start their day.
