Yes, mistletoe is indeed a parasitic plant that can harm trees. It attaches to the branches and extracts water and nutrients, which can weaken the host tree over time. BioTree Care is working at The Nature Preserve in Port Aransas, treating for invasive species, primarily targeting Brazilian Peppertree and White Lead Tree. These invasive plants give native species (which are preferred) an unfair advantage when competing for space. When left unchecked, they can cause serious damage to an ecosystem, in this case, wetland habitat.
