Two years ago today, I received the gift of a new heart. ❤️
After spending two months in the ICU and going through a 13-hour transplant surgery, I was given a second chance at life. It was one of the hardest things I have ever gone through, physically and emotionally, but it changed me.
That experience taught me how to fight. It taught me not to give up when things get difficult and to appreciate every day I’m given.
Not long after my recovery, I took another leap and started Cache Lock & Key. What began with an idea and a determination to build something has grown into a business with two service vehicles, and I’m incredibly grateful for how far we’ve come.
None of this would have been possible without the people who stood beside me. I’m thankful beyond words for my wife, my parents, my family, and everyone who supported me through the darkest days and helped me get back on my feet.
But most of all, today I think about Dalton, my heart donor. His gift is the reason I am here. Because of him, I was given more time with my family, the opportunity to build a business, and the chance to keep living a life I once wasn’t sure I would have.
Every milestone means a little more now. Every day is a gift.
Two years later, his heart is still beating, and I’m still fighting.
Thank you, Dalton. I will carry you with me for the rest of my life. ❤️
Never give up.
