Glorious Gloucester

This past weekend I've been working on some new paintings of Gloucester-near our favorite Annisquam River rental house. I'm looking out over the river, the beaches, the coastal marshes and the New Englander cottages. Its a very joyous time of the year and much anticipated. I'll be posting some painting updates here so keep checking in for the latest version of the new work!

The Gloucester Trip 2026

Yes, soon I will be heading for the glorious Annisquam River in Gloucester. Hoping to finally get on my floating studio and make some great new paintings. I've been sick most of the Spring with bronchitis, poison ivy, etc, etc and I haven't been able to paint much. Hopefully it will all be a bad memory and I can work fresh!...

I’ve been adding some oil pastel color to my recent stealth sketches of my Market Basket people. I think it gives them an entirely new look. I like the color intensity of the medium, but I’ve always found oil pastels difficult to work with. A few passes and the paper gets super saturated with color and won’t take a new color layer ontop. Nice for quick sketching though.

Wow! This weekend is open studios-the one before MOTHERS Day! (At 122 Western  Ave., Studios in Lowell Mass from 12 to 5 PM) Eep. Good thing I reminded you! You’re invited to attend. Happy Spring! Happy April!! Today (Saturday April 4th) at open studios, located at Western Avenue Studios in Lowell, MA from 12-5 I have cleared all traces of Winter away.
