Solar lease, solar purchase, or PPA. What’s the difference?

Before you sign a solar agreement, it helps to understand what you are actually committing to.

Some homeowners choose a lease because it may offer a lower upfront cost. Others choose to purchase because they want to own the system. A Power Purchase Agreement, or PPA, works differently. You usually pay for the power the system produces, not the equipment itself.

The monthly payment is only one part of the decision.

Before you sign, ask:

Who owns the system?
Who maintains it?
Who monitors performance?
What happens if something stops working?
What happens if the company goes out of business?
Can the agreement transfer if you sell your home?

🎉 We’re thrilled to announce another successful Do What’s Right system giveaway — made possible by our amazing partners at American Standard!
Pamela’s old system was installed improperly, causing skyrocketing PG&E bills, poor performance, and major issues with her ductwork. The ducts were too small and badly kinked, leaving entire sections of her home with almost no airflow. All of this leading to the failure of her system.
