It’s been a rough couple of days in Michigan as we’ve had some crazy storms… I had to check out and see how my garden fared with the heavy rain and high winds!

Final days of reduced adoption fees at Ingham County Animal Control and Shelter! A few of the dogs we sponsored adoptions for are still waiting for their forever home.

Update on the dog we found on Cedar Street a couple weekends ago: She went to a “foster to adopt” home the day after she was available and they loved her so much that she was officially adopted two days later! So happy for such a positive outcome for her situation - her new name is Shelby Rae 🐾

ETA: Thank you all for the kind words and for those of you willing to donate toward it! Realistically, whatever we bring to the table we would like to be able to fund ourselves 😊 but we appreciate you all!

It makes us so sad to be the bearers of bad news for this potential event… we reached out to the township to see if we would need a permit and we do. The issue is not the permit itself, it’s that the permit comes with a hefty price tag. Our application would also have to go through an approval process that is due mid-September and would not be reviewed until mid-October.

The good news is the permit would cover this and future farm events, but the bad news is we’re not in a position at this time to front the cost as it would probably take a handful of events to recover the permit fee (and this is the only event we have planned right now).

With that said - it’s not 100% out of the question in the future, but it unfortunately will not be happening this year! We are so bummed because we were already working on food ideas, photo ops, etc. but we did say the numbers had to make sense and they don’t unfortunately at this time ☹️ So sorry if we got anyone’s hopes up, we really would’ve loved to pull this off this year for you all!

So how do we feel about this view on a cool October Saturday night with you wrapped up in blankets watching a Halloween classic in the backyard of our farm? Maybe some movie theatre snacks, drinks and cookies? With a side of farm stand shopping after dark?
