Production season is in full swing at American Native Plants!

Across the nursery, new trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants are growing, rooting into their containers, and being cared for in preparation for the upcoming fall planting season. Every tray, container, and growing block represents the planning and attention that goes into supplying high-quality native plant material when our customers need it most.

While we're focused on growing the next generation of inventory, now is also the ideal time for customers to begin planning fall projects. Early planning helps ensure the right plant material is available when planting season arrives.

Summer planting can be successful when it’s approached with the right expectations and the right conditions in place.

The biggest factor is matching plant material to the site. Sun exposure, soil type, drainage, and moisture availability all play a role in how well new plantings establish during warmer months. When those conditions are aligned, summer installs can absolutely move forward as part of an active project schedule.

At the same time, summer planting typically requires additional attention during establishment. Irrigation planning, site monitoring, and early-stage care become even more important to support survivability through periods of heat and moisture stress.

Rather than focusing on a single “right list” of plants, success comes from understanding the relationship between site conditions and plant needs, then planning accordingly.
