A question we often see come up is "why is fall a strong planting window for native plants?"

This can be broken down into 3 parts:

1. Cooler temperatures - Fall’s cooler temperatures can help reduce heat stress and give plants more favorable conditions as they adjust to their new site.

2. Time for establishment - Seasonal moisture can support plants as they settle in, giving roots time to establish before the demands of the next growing season.

3. Planning and care - A successful fall planting starts before installation. Securing the right plant material, preparing the site, coordinating timing, and providing proper post-installation care all help plants get off to a strong start.

With the right planning and conditions in place, fall can be a great time to get plants in the ground and ready for the season ahead.
