Last night while eating dinner, our daughter started talking about trying to eat a tablespoon of turmeric in water every day. Then Deidra Brown-Hall explained to her that it will not work that way and that it had to be combined with a fat and some crack pepper to reap the benefits of the turmeric. That made me think, "Wait a minute, we've talked about this before." And sure enough, Deidra had written about this back in 2018 and figured, why not reshare with you today!!

Hey guys! After a short break, I’m back! If you remember, my very last post, “Can We Talk: Illness On The Homestead“, I was talking about having a plan when things get a lil squirrely and someone gets sick on the homestead. I had just gotten out of a short vacation at Chateau D’ Hospital and...

Sad day. First loss on the farm. I told Antoine I'm actually surprised we went this long with all the animals with as many predators there are around here.

Whatever it was, it, or, they came during the day. Every night we do a head count and they were all there. In the morning, a few of our girls know how to fly over the chicken fencing we keep them in at night. They like to wander around until we set the rest loose. Those are the ones that got taken.

What ever it was scaled or jumped the perimeter fence, some how bypassing the hot wire. Then dug it's way out dragging a girl with it - again bypassing the lower TWO hot wires (one inside and one outside).

It was hungry and determined. Now we have a reduction in workforce and have to figure out how in the world to keep the rest of the employees safe. Because whatever it was....will be back 😔😠

I think we might be a day or two late!! Mama did a great job of hiding them well! We have more babies!!! 🐣🐣🐣

This is an excellent example of not fighting against nature and just let nature do what it's designed to do!

We are about a week late on this update but Mom-to-Be is doing well and we are actually on hatch watch at the moment!

We've spent so much time fine "just doing" but we've never taken the time to explain why we do what we do. In this video...

We hadn't done an update on the baby chicks in a while. They are growing nicely! We have them on a homemade corn/soy free diet and it's working out really well for them. Yesterday Antoine gave them extra space in their brooder and they are really testing their wings(one almost flew out the coop!). They are feathering out super fast withstanding and being super active in about 80 degree heat already! They love "foraging" in their brooder and just over all have really great instincts. Good job lil ones!

In rural areas especially on roads with lots of livestock, you have to be careful because you never know what you might just see!

It's been over a week now and the broody Buff that we gave eggs to has been doing well. This is her out stretching her legs and I guess refreshing before she headed back to work. I checked back and she was on the eggs again. So, she is doing what she was designed to do and without our help.
