At Smith Gee Studio, we believe that great design is truly holistic endeavor that meets our clients’ goals and contributes to a better community. That’s why we “connect the dots” by considering the neighborhood, the architecture and the interior spaces as we plan. Through a culture of collaboration, we assemble the right team of architects, urban planners and interior designers to create meaningful, timeless places that engage people, encourage interaction and stitch together communities.

Today, we joined Nashville MDHA to celebrate the ribbon-cutting of Park Point East, just days after the 85th anniversary of the opening of the original Cayce Place.

Park Point East includes 203 homes, with more than half reserved for original Cayce Place residents and the remaining 88 affordable to households earning up to 60% of the area’s median income.

A defining feature of the design is an exposed steel pedestrian and unit bridge connecting the renovated Community Services office to a townhome-lined walkway leading to the future linear park. Together, these connections create a welcoming corridor for everyday use and community events while linking past and future phases of the neighborhood.

We’re proud to celebrate another milestone for the Cayce Transformation and see Park Point East begin welcoming residents home.

From Nashville to ULI’s “Missing Middle Housing: From Policy to Practice” report, Kirkpatrick Park is helping tell a bigger story about housing.

As the first phase of mixed-income housing within the larger Cayce Transformation, Kirkpatrick Park includes 94 units across 15 two- and three-story buildings. Urban Land Institute highlighted the community for “demonstrating how missing middle-scale infill can replace concentrated public housing and blend into the surrounding neighborhood’s historic character and street scale.”

The vision for affordable housing continues through our partnership with Nashville MDHA on the Cayce Transformation, including Cherry Oak Apartments and the soon-to-be-completed Park Point East.

Smith Gee Studio worked with Revive, a healthcare-focused marketing agency now joined with BPD, on multiple expansions of its office at Cummins Station.

Over nine years, we provided full interior design services, making the most of the historic building’s character while adapting to the agency’s evolving needs. The larger break room accommodates everything from casual conversations to company-wide gatherings, while additional meeting rooms and touchdown spaces provide employees with more places to work throughout the day. The reception area was also expanded to better showcase Revive’s in-house art collection, making it more visible in the office.

Together, these updates created a workplace that better supported the Revive team’s collaborative culture.

We love seeing a space we designed fully activated and brought to life.

The 2026 Riversteps Concert Series is officially open at Neuhoff District, filling the riverfront with music, people, and summer evenings in Nashville’s historic Germantown. The River Terrace and steps were designed as a natural gathering place, connecting visitors to the Cumberland River and one of the district’s most unique views.

Daylighting + orientation, healthy workplace design, and community connection shaped our team’s approach to the new MNPD Southeast Precinct.

As MNPD’s first new police station in nearly a decade, the precinct serves as a new model for both the community and the police force. Designed to reflect a strong commitment to and connection with the neighborhoods it serves, the building creates a civic presence while supporting the wellness, comfort, and daily operations of the officers who work there.
