the wallpaper. eden by calico, designed by lindsey adelman. it isn’t real gold leaf, but it has that gold-leaf surface, and it glows. it was the first decision we made about the space, and it’s why the room feels warm the second you walk in.⁠
⁠
the light in the entry foyer. it reads as a sculpture until you flip the switch. karl zahn, a local brooklyn fabricator, made it. at night it turns into a constellation.
⁠
the cabinet. willett, found at the future perfect. it looks like it’s from another era, and it’s brand new.⁠

one office at pace capital is built around piet hein eek’s waste desk, made from reclaimed wood. a karl zahn mobile hangs overhead and a guillaume linard osorio diptych is on the wall. the second office has a fireplace and a pair of 1970s hans eichenberger lounge chairs.⁠

what does a living room look like when it’s meant to feel collected over decades?⁠

this is our entry and living room at the brooklyn heights designer showhouse. one monroe place went up in 1852 and has a checkered history, so we treated the two rooms as one story rather than a clean slate. eden, lindsey adelman’s wallpaper for calico, runs through both. a karl zahn mobile hangs over the entry table. there’s a long rust velvet sofa, a pair of green velvet chairs by the windows, and vintage and new pieces side by side. traditional next to modern, familiar next to a little surprising.⁠

it’s never quite finished. less a single vision than a conversation among many.⁠
⁠
open thursdays through sundays until november 1.⁠
