I love to be behind the camera but not so much in front of it. 🥴 Regardless, I needed some updated photos for my website and other marketing materials, so Molly and I decided to take advantage of the glorious delphinium in bloom and the beautiful evening light to do a little photo session. Like me, she loves to chase that beautiful light and, man, did she capture it beautifully. 💛

I know I’ll be flooded with DMs after posting this, so before you fire away with your questions, check our website!!! Yes, we do host photography sessions! Bring your own photographer…or hire Molly! She’s available Thursday-Sunday, now through August (and maybe some weekends after that but her schedule gets busy once school starts back up.)

There’s a robin’s nest in one of the spruce trees in the middle of our yard. It’s too high for us to see, but we’ve been watching the robin parents dig in the lawn for worms and listening to the delighted chirps from their babies when they deliver their feast to the nest.

The other morning I came out early to find one of the baby robins perched on a trellis out back, in what was probably one of her first flights. She sat there for a while with the breeze blowing through her feathers, long enough for me to run in and grab my camera and switch to my zoom lens. What a sweet moment to have witnessed in this little ecosystem we’ve created. 💕

We’re always looking for new things to grow, especially things that grow well in our harsh climate. Penstemon is one of those. It thrives in our arid climate and the pollinators go crazy for it. Our favorite is this Dark Towers variety. We love it in the garden for the way the light shines through it and the way the bees bury themselves in the petals. And we love it for adding whimsy to bouquets but also a touch of elegance from its dark foliage. I could’ve sat here all morning watching Molly harvest in the morning light with the bees floating around her. 🥰

Look for it in bouquets at The Flower House this weekend!

Please note: The Flower House will now close at 4:00 every day to reduce the amount of time flowers are left sitting in the heat. Tomorrow (Saturday) we will open at noon due to Ironman road closures surrounding us. Hours are always posted at the top of our website, so check before you come!

Experience it for yourself this weekend at our Cut Flower Happy Hour event. One of the few opportunities to visit the farm this season. (The farm is also our family home so we don’t take it lightly when we let people in.) You guys ask for it, now we need you here for it. Don’t say we didn’t give you the chance.

Saturday, June 13
6:00-8:00 pm
Drinks, light snacks, flower arranging, tour, full access to the farm and all the gardens. Bring your camera if you’d like. Advance registration is required.

Peony season is coming to an end! Our peonies were very limited this year thanks to our late spring snowstorm, and we’re down to our last few stems.

Our ranunculus are winding down as well with this recent heatwave.
