A bar that looks good empty and a bar that works with a dozen people standing around it aren’t always the same bar.
If you’re planning to host over the holidays, it helps to walk through your bar as the host instead of as a guest. Three things tend to decide whether it works.
Reach: can you make a drink without leaving your spot, with glassware, tools, and the bottles you pour from all within arm’s length?
Landing space: do guests have somewhere to set a glass down that isn’t the surface you’re pouring on?
Working bottles versus display bottles: the ones you pour from stay at hand, and the ones you show off go on display, since mixing the two crowds both.

If you’re sketching out a bar, those three questions are worth answering before you pick a layout.

It's Ch*****ne Day, and a genuine question we hear from people planning capacity: why doesn't Ch*****ne fit the same as everything else in the rack?

The answer is in the bottle itself. Ch*****ne is built wider and with thicker glass than a standard still-w**e bottle, since it needs to hold real pressure. That extra width is easy to miss when a rack gets sized around one standard bottle profile, and it can leave
Ch*****ne without a secure spot, or force it in at an angle that puts pressure on the cork.

Full-depth storage, like our GrandCellar, gives it the same solid fit as everything
else in the collection. If Ch*****ne is part of what you store, it's worth saying so
specifically when you start planning, rather than assuming a general bottle count covers it.

Some of the most useful rooms we help plan do two jobs: they hold a w**e collection, and they’re where the drinks get made when people come over. This one combines InstaCellar racking with our Bar & Beverage Collection.

What makes a combined room work is planning storage around how each bottle needs to sit. W**e is stored on its side so the cork stays moist. Spirits are stored standing up, because high-proof alcohol degrades cork with long contact. Put everything on the same racking and something ends up stored the wrong way.

From there, it’s about how the room gets used. A counter that breaks up the racking gives you actual space to pour. The bottles you open most stay near the bar, and longer-term w**e sits further in. Because InstaCellar is modular, the wall can grow as the collection does.

If you’re planning a room like this, our design team will work through the layout with you in 3D at no cost.

If you’re adding w**e storage as part of a renovation, a wall-mounted system is often the most manageable place to start. It works on a wall you already have, which keeps the project smaller than building out a full room.

Two planning questions tend to come up together: how many bottles will it hold, and how deep will it be? With the VintageView Evolution W**e Wall, depth is how you control capacity. A 30-inch-tall, two-column section is 27-5/8 inches wide whichever depth you choose. At single depth it’s 4-1/4 inches deep and holds 12 bottles. At triple depth it’s 12-1/4 inches deep and holds 36. In a hallway or dining room, that depth matters as much as the bottle count.

The rest of the system is built around flexibility. Bottles display label-forward, and standard, Ch*****ne and Pinot Noir bottles share the same row. Sections stack for height and extend sideways, so you can start with one and add more later. Finishes pair matte black supports with matte black, chrome or golden bronze rods.

Through October 25, all Evolution products are 10% off, including the W**e Wall, Low Profile, W**e Tower, Island Display Racks and accessories.

Not sure which sizes fit your wall? Send our design team your measurements and we’ll help you lay it out at no cost.

It's Gin & Tonic Day, which is a good reason to talk about a station built for more than one version of that drink.
The Bar & Beverage Collection can hold what a classic G&T needs and what a zero-proof one needs too — glassware, garnish, and display — without the alcohol-free option feeling like an afterthought tacked onto a different part of the room. More people hosting these days are planning for both, and the station should be built that way from the start.

A w**e wall doesn’t have to be built in one finish. Some of the best-looking ones are built from two.
Pictured: InstaCellar, with our new Gold metal finish option. The gold works with the dark wood finish, so the wall reads warm and modern at the same time. If you’d rather go cooler, the same system comes in Silver and Matte Black.
Whichever finish you choose, the principle holds. Pick one finish to lead the room and one to support it. A wall built entirely from one material can end up looking flat. A wall with a body finish and an accent finish tends to look considered.

There's a new finish now available across the WRA collections: Gold, on our InstaCellar™, GrandCellar™ and Millesime cellars.

It lands at a good time. Warm metal tones — brass, bronze, and gold — have been the biggest shift in interior hardware and lighting over the past year, and a w**e wall is one more place where that finish choice is visible every day. Paired with acrylic, it reads warmer than the black or silver finishes already in the collection.

If you've noticed that the w**e rooms which photograph best almost always have a dark wall behind the bottles, that's not a coincidence. It comes down to contrast.
Most bottles are dark glass with pale labels, so against a white or light wall, they tend to blend into the room. Put the same collection against a deep, saturated wall color and it reads as a display rather than just storage.

There's a catch worth planning for: a dark wall changes what your lighting has to do. Without light aimed at the right spots, dark absorbs detail instead of framing it, so wallcolor and lighting really need to be planned together rather than one after the other.

Paint brands have already started naming their 2027 colors, and most of the early picks lean into deep, warm neutrals like olive and espresso tones — exactly the direction that works well behind a rack. If a statement wall has been on your list, this is a solid year to commit to one.
