We're hiring!

Our small, creative office is looking for a good-hearted and super talented team member to take on a variety of roles for architecture and interior residential / multi-family housing and small commercial projects.  We need a hard-working individual who is interested in growing with us in a long-term position; one who can wear many different hats on multiple projects and who is interested in growing their skills in a relaxed and positive work environment.

Simply put, candidates must be skilled in AutoCAD and have a degree from an accredited architecture or interior design program. Ideally 3-6 years experience.

Flush with the deck. Flush with the horizon. This spa was designed to disappear — its surface level with the ipe decking, so the only thing between the bather and the Bay is the sky.

A flush-mount install asks for precision at every layer: framing, waterproofing, drainage, and a crane operator with good aim. The reward is a deck that reads as one continuous plane, all the way to the Bay. One quiet line. A whole lot of coordination behind it.

Spring Equinox—that rare moment of perfect balance when day and night hold equal weight. These markers of the year remind us how profoundly the sun shapes the spaces we inhabit. The angle of light at dusk softens edges, warms glass, and reveals the depth of overhangs and cantilevers. Rooms that felt intimate through winter begin to breathe differently, and the shadows track in new ways around a room.

Here, in this to-the-stud renovation on a downslope lot, the evening light doesn’t just illuminate the building—it collaborates with it. This formerly gabled home was transformed with a butterfly roof to take advantage of the soaring views over Oakland and to the bay and San Francisco beyond. New fire-resistant materials of cement plaster, metal roofing, and thermally treated wood allow this structure to perch among the intentionally left wild landscape — hovering quietly above the oaks, borrowing the horizon, and catching this golden hour light.

We are back from our unintended Instagram/social sabbatical —with lots of news and projects to share.

Starting off: After over six years of dedication, creativity, and heart, we are thrilled to announce the promotion of Christina Flores to Associate at Tierney Conner.

Christina, a licensed architect and new mom, has held integral roles in so many of the projects we’re most proud of.  Her work is thoughtful and impactful, bringing her signature even-keeled creative spirit to everything she does. A natural leader, she’s also been instrumental in introducing and implementing the many systems that keep our office running smoothly and efficiently.

Christina, we are endlessly grateful to have you. Here’s to the next chapter!

Back from the east coast after an amazing week photographing our waterfront project with and video from

Photoshoots are both exhausting and incredibly rewarding—seeing the fruition of years of work, planning, details and decisions is often pretty cathartic. For this one, we stayed over in the house for a couple days and got to experience this incredible site like we lived there—basking in the sun, the rhythm of the tides, and all the sounds of life on the water’s edge.

Can’t wait to share this special place and incredible home.
