In this King of Prussia home, we redesigned the first-floor kitchen and added a colorful coat room.

The project goals were to increase the kitchen footprint and adjust the layout so it felt connected to the adjacent living and dining rooms. We increased flow between the front and back of the house with wide walkways on either side of two islands. To add mid-century nods, we incorporated playful patterned tile, Airy Kitchens cabinetry in Heron Blue, and stained oak countertops.

How do you give a new bathroom a vintage feel?

In this Mount Airy bathroom, we kept the original layout and tub, reglazing the tub to give it new life. We added plenty of storage with a new vanity and two wall cabinets, while keeping the design true to the historic home with vintage Art Deco-inspired details.

We used decorative tile borders and Art Deco-inspired accents to add vintage character, paired with nautical wallpaper by York Wallcoverings.

Knock knock.. 🚪 Introducing a few of our team’s favorite new door styles from our custom cabinetry line.

Mason’s favorite: The Arched Shaker with plenty of personality.

Sean loves the Raised Panel door, a natural fit for his colonial home.

Fiona’s favorite: The Townhouse door features an applied molding and can be finished in natural wood or custom paint.

Jack loves the Woodworker’s door for it’s stopped chamfer detail.

Solid-surface backsplashes may look simple, but getting them right takes precision.

Pros: Easier to clean, very durable, visually simple, and can match the countertop.

Cons: More expensive, heavier, takes more time, and can feel less appropriate in a historic home.

On-site templating is especially important. It accounts for walls, cabinets, outlets, and other details so everything fits properly. While many countertop installers can template and install, having someone oversee the process helps ensure the finished result matches the design intent.

In this bright Mount Airy kitchen, there’s a little bit of magic overhead. ✨

Our clients wanted to open the kitchen to the dining room while keeping it bright and open. They also wanted to feature their pottery collection and bring in Mediterranean influences to complement their Italianate home.

We kept the kitchen light and neutral, layering in blue accents, vintage-inspired details, and pattern for character. Opening the wall also gave us room for more cabinetry and a much more functional layout.

Good design anticipates what comes next. We’ve designed spaces for families with young kids, thinking ahead to how their needs will change as those kids grow.

We’ve also designed homes for couples approaching retirement, anticipating how they can age in place comfortably while enjoying the home they’ve always dreamed of. The best spaces work for your life today and adapt to what comes next, both aesthetically and functionally.

We designed this Mount Airy kitchen to create smart flow and open sightlines between the dining room, pantry, and the rear garden. Special moments along the way offer seating and display space. Take a tour with interior designer Sean and see how the spaces come together.

Today on the blog, we explore how historic tile detailing can elevate interiors.

Tile detailing uses trim, patterns, transitions, and thoughtful layouts to give tile a more architectural presence. Details such as pencil liners, borders, insets, and custom patterns can add visual interest, create focal points, and connect a renovation to the character of the home. Understanding how tile was traditionally used can help inform modern renovations while creating spaces that feel thoughtful, timeless, and authentic.
