Our latest paint color, Summer Squash, is inspired by soft tones from sunny paintings, fabulous kitchens, and of course summer squash harvests.

Drawing inspiration from historic butler’s pantries, we bring timeless details into custom cabinetry: multi-panel doors, beadboard backing, decorative corbels, and doors that extend to the bottom for an authentic, furniture-like feel.

After a decade of designing and renovating homes, we’ve learned a few hard lessons.

Trying to save a few bucks by refinishing or reusing cabinets usually isn’t worth it.

Never make assumptions about what’s hiding behind the walls or underneath the floorboards. Now we cut holes and call the engineer early!

Construction shortcuts are risky, so be prepared to pay the price.

Finally, big box retailers are not a good fit for our business model. Too many mistakes and not enough customer service.

How did we make a red kitchen work?

Our clients wanted to take a big color risk with crimson red cabinets. So we created a kitchen design that enhanced the brown undertones and avoided making the cabinetry look pink. How?
Warm creamy walls, trim, and backsplash tile
Dark contrast with counters, hood, and dining table
Organic stained wood accents and floors

What did we avoid? White trim or counters would have made the cabinets look pink. Looking to create a warm and moody kitchen in your home? Start with the best designers!

When designing this row home kitchen, the cabinetry layout was carefully considered. Swipe through to see how different layouts dramatically changed the storage, workspace, flow, and connection between rooms.

In this Mount Airy rowhome, our clients dreamed of a contemporary kitchen with colorful zellige tile, but they wanted to keep a traditional look in their dining room. To maximize storage, we decided to open the wall with a passthrough that would look like a built-in hutch from the dining room and offer contemporary wall storage in the kitchen. The result is a custom cabinet with two very different sides and lots of storage space for both rooms.
