The process of remodeling a home can be difficult for many clients. But with a great team, good communication, organization and patience, spectacular results are possible! Success requires design consistency throughout the whole house. There must be no disconnection between remodeled and non-remodeled spaces and the end result should remain true to the original architecture of the house.

A statement door works two ways: it boosts your curb appeal AND it adds character to your entry area!

Vintage and antique furnishings are having a well-deserved moment in the spotlight. But for us at ASD, vintage has always been in! We love incorporating family heirlooms or a unique piece you found at an antique store into your interior design.

It provides a space that is uniquely you, and can't be found at your local big box store!
Read our latest blog post to read why we think vintage has become so popular, and why you might consider it for your home.

Christmas in July? I know you're probably not ready to think about the holidays, but if you are planning to entertain, and are staring down a beat up couch, and a dining room table that only comfortably fits six, it might be time for some upgrades.

At Allison Smith Design (ASD), our Portland interior designers can review your home, and make thoughtful suggestions for pieces that will transform a drab room into something spectacular. We specialize in sourcing unique or custom pieces that can't be found at a big box store.

COMMENT HOLIDAY for the blog post!

If you could only choose one, which piece would you choose, the gold chair and ottoman, or the palm tree lamp?

We mixed contemporary pieces with this vintage gold chair + ottoman and the homeowner’s palm tree lamp that she brought back from the UK to create a fabulous eclectic vibe in Portland Heights!

Have you ever been in a room and it just felt off? It's likely because there was no star player or there were TOO MANY star players fighting for attention. When we design a room at ASD, we pick one main eye-catching subject and find complementing elements to support it vs. fight with it for attention.

We wrote a full blog post about this philosophy...Comment "STAR" to get the link!

Reminiscing about this gorgeous San Jose del Cabo vacation home we designed a few years ago. The indoor-outdoor living was perfect for the year-round warm weather, and the bar was tempting for a fresh margarita followed by a nap in the luxurious bed!

Although our interior design team is based in Portland, OR, we’ve traveled as far as Beijing to design interesting and thoughtful spaces!
