Cistus offers Mediterranean climate, southern hemisphere, hardy tropical plants, and more. Come visit the nursery and wander through the display gardens, or browse our Plant Lists and have a small piece of the nursery sent to you through the mail... Plants are our passion, and sharing our treasures with fellow plant lovers is our joy.

Speaker Highlight: Brett Hall, Friend and long time Director of UC Santa Cruz Arboretum and current Director of native plant conservation.

Known for over-the-top Australian and other Southern Hemisphere collections, Brett and the gardens have focused more recently on native plants and their conservation in the wild. Come hear about a garden institution that has been an inspiration and source of new plants up and down the West coast. Brett will speak at 3pm next Saturday at the Rancho Cistus Summer Extravaganza.

Speaker highlight! We're excited to welcome guest speaker Thomas Van Hevelingen of Van Hevelingen Herb Nursery to the Rancho Cistus summer Extravaganza! Thomas has traveled in Greece finding Mediterranean plants in habitat to learn about their cultivation. When he's not busy with the nursery, Thomas likes to experiment in his dry garden pushing the limits of both Mediterranean climate and other plants. He's particularly interested in Salvia, Oregano, Teucrium, and Cistus! (A favorite of ours too!)Thomas' talk on this beautiful and resilient plants will start at 2pm. Event info at cistus.com
