How many vole holes can you see?

Holes the size of a silver dollar are a tell-tale sign of voles in the landscape. Voles feed on roots year-round wreaking havoc on our plants. We typically don't know we have voles until our plants decline or disappear. If you suspect voles, gently pull the mulch back from around your plants and see if you find holes like these or if the soil feels spongy to walk on it is likely there are vole tunnels just below the surface.
