FIELD NOTES — ACRE, CABO

Studying how simple materials can do more.

Raw concrete. Rough timber. Breeze block. Filtered light. Dense planting. Deep shadow.

What stayed with us at Acre wasn’t any one detail, but the way the architecture lets climate, landscape and material create the atmosphere.

We’re carrying some of that thinking back to California as we develop a new wellness project in San Clemente — not as a reference to copy, but as a reminder that wellness can be something you feel in the space before anyone has to explain it.

Now let’s build something worthy of the people who fought for it.

Imagine a veterans community built from shipping containers, designed around one goal: healing.

Not just housing.
Purpose.
Camaraderie.
Nature.
Privacy.
A place to rebuild a life.

Architecture shouldn’t just solve homelessness.
It should help people heal.
