Happy Halloween!! Thank you for joining us for our Handmade Halloween Hootenanny yesterday, and we hope you have a fun (and safe!) night 🎃👻

A huge thank you goes out to our hardworking volunteers who dressed for the occasion and helped make this event happen! The whole occasion was such a lovely excuse to spend time with our community.

We're so happy to have also been joined by Second Use Building Materials and Labels Consignment Clothing, our sponsors, as well as our friends at Reuse Commons, Seattle ReCreative, 2nd Act Costumes N Cosplay, ReFabrica, and Cascade Cody and The Warshington Apples 🫶

We're ecstatic to be supporting Furniture Repair Bank's first-ever pop-up event, and we're thrilled that Second Use Building Materials is joining as well! There will be several restored furniture and home decor items to peruse, and every purchase will support these wonderful circular economy-based organizations 🪑💡

🪑 When you shop with Furniture Repair Bank, you’re not just getting a great piece for your home; you're helping provide comfort and dignity to families and other community members who are experiencing furniture poverty. Every item purchased helps replenish supplies, fund deliveries, and provide even more restored beds, tables, dressers, and other essential furnishings to neighbors who are moving into housing with little or nothing.

💡 Second Use diverts over 3,000 tons of community-sourced used building materials from landfills each year throughout King and Pierce Counties. Purchases from them support their ability to salvage materials and their stories, from the community, to the community. Their goal is to make salvage and reuse intuitive, accessible, and fun.

This event is supported by the Seattle Office of Economic Development (OED) and Seattle Public Utilities (SPU).

You don't need to wear the same costume or never purchase a Halloween decoration to stay true to your values! At next week's Handmade Halloween Hootenanny, swap or shop secondhand costumes, mend old favorites, and upcycle fabrics before hitting the dance floor 🧛🪡

While we won't have any salvaged Halloween decorations for sale at the event, you can check out our sponsor, Second Use, to buy some.

From 2–5pm, the space will be dedicated to costume creation, a costume swap, and a mask-making activity. If you’re looking to do some last-minute outfit updates before the big day, come get crafty with us!

We’ll have some materials, tools, and equipment available (for free and for purchase), and you’re also welcome to bring your own. This will be going on throughout the evening.

If you step outside from 4–7pm, we'll have c***r presses set up for you to use. Bring your own apples and make some fresh apple c***r!

At 5pm, we’ll begin transitioning some of the space for party time 🎉

Starting at 6pm, we'll be hosting live music, food, drinks, dancing, a costume showcase, photo opportunities, and so much more! Everyone is invited to join as we celebrate repair, creativity, and community 🫶
