You ask….what is a “bulb lasagne”? Well, come to the Sequim Botanical Garden at Carrie Blake this Saturday the 24th at 10:00 AM and find out! We will demonstrate the “how to’s” with a handout for you to follow and create your own! Now is the time to plant bulbs and they are readily available at all the garden stores.
We also will be demonstrating the correct way to plant peonies. Now is the time for them too.
And last, but not least…we will be harvesting some zinnia seeds to be planted next year. Always a money saving exercise.
So rain or shine , we will be there. The bulb demo will be under cover but the other activities will be in the garden…so dress accordingly. Gotta get all the fall things done before the first freeze! See you there!🌸🌻🌺🌼🪻🌷

Hello fellow gardeners! We are posting to see if any of you have any concrete pavers similar to these that you want to get rid of? Don has done a great job utilizing what he could find and it sure made the garden paths look more finished. We can pick them up or you can bring them to the garden and drop them off near our shed. We are in the process of putting our garden to bed for the winter. One of the biggest tasks was to trim our 80 lavender plants. This was their first year, so they are still relatively small. We used a tried and true method as shown here….we called it “the ponytail” method. Utilizing a small cordless hedge trimmer made it go super fast. You could also use a small sickle curved knife to grab a handful and cut. In any case….keep your fingers well away from the blades! The beauty of this method is that you already have ahold of the lavender and it just goes in the wheelbarrow…no need to pick up all those small stems. As the plants get bigger, we will utilize other methods to make the job easier. But for now, this worked out great!

Calling out to all of our wonderful volunteers….This Saturday October 3 is our VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION/ANNUAL MEETING! We will meet indoors in a room behind the band shell (Carrie Blake Park) at 11:00 AM. If you have helped us in the last year, please join us so we can properly thank you for your service to the garden. And for those who want to find out more about the garden, this would be a great opportunity to meet some fellow gardeners and find out how you can help make our garden the best it can be. No work…just a chance to chat about our garden, have some refreshments and pat ourselves on the back for a job well done for 2026. AND there will be some great door prizes! Here's A Look At What's Blooming Today October 1st, 2026!

There are some Yellow Roses that are still blooming.

The Fall Crocus are in full bloom and give a lovely pop of purple.

The Dahlias are still blooming and looking amazing! There are so many beautiful varieties. Including the return of my personal favorite, Crème de Cassis. There had been 1 plant several years ago and literally disappeared overnight. I was excited to see it back this season.

The terrace level that was planted last year looks spectacular.

2 varieties of Honeysuckle are in full bloom on the arches at the top of the stairs.

The volunteers have been busy spreading new bark and labeling many of the varieties of Dahlias.

If you can visit in person I encourage you to do so often. If that isn't an option stay tuned right here and enjoy the beauty from the comfort of your home.

The gardens are maintained by an all volunteer crew. New volunteers are always welcome. Work party information is posted on this page.

We had a great time creating and sharing at the “Fun with Pressed Flowers “ class last Saturday. Although the turn out was not as expected, those who came had a blast creating their masterpieces. We were all super impressed with the hummingbird and the butterfly! Excellent! 🌼🌺🌸🌻🦋

It has been an epic year in the Sequim Botanical Garden! We hit so many milestones with the help of our fabulous volunteers. It is time to celebrate! We will be hosting our annual meeting and VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION party on Saturday October 3 at 11:00 AM at the terrace garden in Carrie Blake Park. We welcome all of our volunteers to come and enjoy some refreshments and be congratulated for all of your help through out the year. We also would love to meet new folks who have considered helping in the garden and would like to find out more. Anyone new to town…this is an excellent way to meet new people and join our community. We will have some good eats and also some DOOR PRIZES to give away! If the weather does not cooperate, we will move the festivities indoors either under the band shell or in an adjoining room. So rain or shine….please come and join us! Did I mention food and door prizes?! 🌼🌺🌸🌻🪻🌷

FUN WITH PRESSED FLOWERS! Learn a few tricks of pressing flowers from your garden and crafting with them too! It is a fun and easy process and the results allow you to preserve the season and create some amazing art! Saturday, September 26, 10:00 AM at the Sequim Botanical Garden Terrace garden in Carrie Blake Park. Space is limited so please RSVP in the comments and number your place as the comments indicate. ie…check the comments and if the comment before you is #4 then you are #5. I hope that makes sense! We will also be gratefully accepting donations for maintaining the garden. Hope to see you there! 🌼🌺🌸🌻

Here's A Look At What's Blooming Now!

The Dahlias are blooming and looking amazing! There are so many beautiful varieties. Including the return of my personal favorite, Crème de Cassis. There had been 1 plant several years ago and literally disappeared overnight. I was excited to see it back this season. There is 1 bloom currently and it a stunningly gorgeous!

The Pink and Yellow Roses are still blooming. The fragrance is amazing as you walk the stairs between the levels.

The terrace level that was planted last year looks spectacular.

2 varieties of Honeysuckle are in full bloom on the arches at the top of the stairs.

The volunteers have been busy spreading new bark and labeling many of the varieties of Dahlias.

I even found an Iris that was blooming beautifully.

Sadly there were no Sunflowers to shoot because someone came in and cut almost all of them for themselves.
The gardens are for everyone’s enjoyment. Nowhere does it say “you cut” is an option.

If you can visit in person I encourage you to do so often. If that isn't an option stay tuned right here and enjoy the beauty from the comfort of your home.
