Another September storm system coming to the PNW soon. Fortunately power outages were relatively small with the last one, hopefully this one too.

PNW SATURDAY STORMS⛈️a compact upper-level low will move inland across southwestern Washington and northwestern Oregon Saturday, bringing widespread showers and unusually cold air aloft. As the colder air moves over the relatively milder surface, temperatures will decrease rapidly with height, creating steeper lapse rates and increasing atmospheric instability. This setup can support scattered thunderstorms capable of lightning, brief heavy rain, gusty winds and small hail.

The circulation around the low will also increase localized low-level wind shear and spin in the atmosphere. Convergence boundaries beneath the low could concentrate that rotation, allowing stronger shower updrafts to stretch it vertically and produce cold-air funnel clouds. Most cold-air funnels remain weak and never reach the ground, but an isolated brief touchdown cannot be ruled out, especially near the coast or over the open waters of the Pacific.

If you have outdoor plans, such as hiking, camping or boating, be prepared for storms and move indoors and off water quickly if storms approach⛈️

And just like that, our summer interns are off to school! They really got a chance to practice their customer service and sales skills at the Sherwood Robin Hood Festival. They were able to bring A LOT of people over to our booth and give away a ton of free flashlights! And they made it to plenty of in-home estimates to see how a bright smile and a strong handshake make all the difference. See you next summer ☀️

Some generator installations are small. Some generator installations are big. We have fun either way! Amazing work from our incredible operations crew.

Rain and wind today, but not wide spread outages. We did see a spike though around the state, from the coast to central Oregon. The highest number at one time was somewhere above 5,000. Tomorrow is still supposed to be breezy so expect some more spikes throughout the day.

Stay safe and dry!

Happy Last Day of Meteorological Summer to those that celebrate! It was another busy week of generator installation for our amazing team last week. Plenty of propane tank installation too. A lot of people don't realize that Generac generators can run on natural gas OR propane depending on what's available or desired. And yes, we do both 😊

Hoping everyone has a fantastic week to kick off September in the PNW!

Should be a mildly interesting week!

PNW EARLY-SEASON WIND RISK WEDNESDAY💨🌲🌧️🍂a strong-for-early-September storm system will move into the Pacific Northwest on Wednesday, bringing widespread rain along with increasingly gusty winds! Across western Washington, western Oregon and northwestern California, the strongest winds are currently favored along the coast and in Washington, the Northwest Interior as a cold front approaches and eventually moves through Wednesday into Wednesday night. Although wind alerts may not be issued, this system could still produce more impacts than the numbers alone would suggest. One important factor is that the trees still have their full summer foliage. Leaves significantly increase the surface area exposed to the wind, putting additional stress on branches and entire trees. Combine that with trees already stressed or weakened following a dry summer, and it may take less wind than during a typical late-fall or winter storm to cause problems. As a result, isolated power outages and some downed or broken tree branches will be possible Wednesday, particularly where the strongest gusts occur. A few weakened tree branches could also come down. There remains uncertainty regarding the exact track and strength of the system, which will ultimately determine how strong the winds become. Right now, this does not look like a major Pacific Northwest windstorm, but it is an early-season system worth watching closely because of the increased vulnerability of fully leafed and drought-stressed trees. Rain, gusty winds and much cooler temperatures will make Wednesday feel much more like fall across the region💨🌲🌧️🍂
