Fall foliage is one of the most enjoyable parts of this season. As much as we enjoy seeing the leaves change, premature color change can be a sign of a stressed tree. If you have an oak, maple or birch tree in the Sioux Falls area that started to turn yellow within the past few weeks you likely have a tree suffering from chlorosis and drought stress. Chlorosis is a condition when a tree is unable to access an appropriate amount of micronutrients from the soil required to make healthy leaves during the growing season. The most noticeable symptom of chlorosis is a yellow leaf blade with green veins. The good news is that we have treatment options to control the issue and fall is an excellent time to treat and improve the health of your tree. Contact us today to schedule a consultation.

We’re feeling very thankful for the unseasonably warm weather that has allowed us to continue working through our fall and “winter” projects.

Winter is an excellent time to prune and remove trees. The dry and eventually frozen soil allows us to access those difficult to access trees with minimal impact to the landscape. Without leaves on the tree we are able to properly assess branch structure and identify any current and future concerns with regards to how the tree is growing. Winter is also a great time to discuss any potential insect and disease issues that might affect your trees so we can develop a management strategy for the next growing season.
