A New Roof—and a Fresh Start After Storm Damage! 🏡✨

What began as a storm damage restoration turned into a comprehensive roofing and exterior project for this Springfield homeowner.

The finished roof features an Owens Corning Platinum Roofing System with TruDefinition Duration shingles in Onyx Black, giving the home a clean, dimensional appearance.

With the damaged plywood replaced, our Springfield project moved into the protective layers of the new roofing system.

Our crew installed RhinoRoof U20 synthetic underlayment, and the project specifications also called for an ice-and-water barrier at the eaves and roof penetrations, plus additional protection along the front-left roof elevation.

Why use both?

Synthetic underlayment provides a secondary layer beneath the shingles, while ice and water barrier offers additional protection in areas more vulnerable to water intrusion.

A Fresh Roof, With a Little Extra Coordination! ☀️🏠

Another beautiful roof replacement completed in Annandale!

This home received a new Owens Corning Platinum Roofing System with TruDefinition Duration shingles in Onyx Black, giving it a refreshed look and a comprehensive system built for lasting protection.

But this project came with an additional scheduling consideration: the homeowner's existing solar panels.

When a roof needs replacement beneath solar panels, the timing matters. We coordinated with the homeowner around the solar company's schedule, completing our roofing work between panel removal and reinstallation.

And there was plenty to accomplish during that window!

Our crew replaced 16 sheets of plywood, installed the complete roofing system, upgraded attic ventilation, and completed the necessary flashing details.

Once our work was finished, the solar company returned to reinstall the panels.

The finished roof combines Owens Corning's Onyx Black architectural shingles with the protection of a Platinum Roofing System, installed by an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor. 🧡

That's exactly what we planned for on this Annandale project!

The homeowner's existing solar panels covered large portions of the roof, so replacing the shingles required extra coordination.

☀️ The homeowner's solar company provided a window between removing and reinstalling the panels, and our crew worked within that schedule to complete the roof replacement. It's a great example of why coordinating different contractors is so important on projects like this!

🔎 Why can't roofers simply work around the panels?

Because a proper roof replacement involves removing the existing shingles, inspecting the decking, and installing new protective materials across the roof surface, including the areas beneath the solar panels.
