Every year around this time, I get slammed with crippling depression. And knowing it happens every year doesn’t make it any easier when it comes back.

It gets hard to find the energy to show up, answer messages, create, or explain what’s going on inside my head. Sometimes even the smallest things feel heavy.

If you’ve noticed me being quieter, this is part of why. I still care. I still have dreams. I’m just struggling to find the energy to put into the things that mean so much to me.

There’s a lot people don’t see behind a post, a song, or a screen. Sharing something positive doesn’t mean I’m feeling okay. Sometimes I need those words just as much as the person reading them.

I’m sharing this because hiding it gets exhausting, too.

If this time of year hits you hard, you don’t have to pretend with me. You deserve support even when you can’t explain exactly what hurts.

Check on your people. Give them room to answer honestly. Sometimes “I’ve been quiet” means “I’ve been having a really hard time.” 🖤

Your freedom needs a foundation.

People see the anger. What they don’t see is everything it took to get me here.

When you lose your job, you don’t just lose a paycheck. You lose sleep wondering how you’re going to take care of your family. You spend hours explaining yourself, gathering proof, and hoping the people responsible for hearing you will actually listen.

And while you’re waiting for answers, the bills keep coming. Your kids still need you. You’re trying to be present at home while your mind keeps replaying everything that happened.

Then somebody tells you to calm down. Move on. Trust the process.

That’s easy to say when your family isn’t the one living with the consequences.

I refused to operate equipment I believed was unsafe. Think about what that decision means. If something goes wrong on the road, it could be somebody else’s family paying the price. I had to take that seriously.

I believed I would get a fair chance to explain myself. After everything that has happened, I feel let down by the very process I trusted to hear me.

That’s where this anger comes from.

And I know I’m not the only person who has felt this. There are people reading this who have swallowed their concerns because they couldn’t afford to lose their income. People who spoke up and then spent months trying to defend their name.

We tell people to do the right thing. We need to care about what happens to them afterward, too.

So yes, f**k a crooked system that leaves working people feeling like protecting their livelihood means keeping their mouth shut.

I’m asking for fairness. A real chance to be heard. And a world where taking somebody’s safety seriously doesn’t put everything you’ve worked for at risk.

🔥 A 22 UNIVERSAL DAY ASKS YOU TO THINK BEYOND THE MOMENT 🔥

What are you building, and can it support the life you actually want to live?

Choose one promise you can keep today. Take one practical step. Have one honest conversation. Make room for someone trustworthy to help.

You do not need certainty about the entire road to act with care where you stand.

I’ve survived addiction, homelessness, being shot, and losing people I loved. “Still Alive” carries the weight of knowing there were moments I might not have made it through.
