It's Week 4 of National Preparedness month and the theme is saving for an emergency. Wanted to share these solid tips for putting some $$ away in case of an unexpected event.

Week 4: SAVE FOR AN EMERGENCY
Consider the costs associated with disasters. Plan financially for the possibility of emergencies or a disaster.

• If a disaster strikes your home or neighborhood, you will have unexpected expenses such as lodging, food and gas. Are you prepared?
• Consider opening a separate emergency savings account to save money that could be used in any crisis.
• Have money on hand for a “rainy day.” Keep a small savings of cash at home stored in a safe place in case of emergencies. Make sure you have small bills on hand ($1, $5, $10) because ATMs and credit cards may not work after a large-scale disaster, when you’ll need to purchase fuel, food or medication.
