Labor Day: The Work Behind the Homes

Squatchy and Gus have spent a lot of time talking about protecting homes.

But today, they're thinking about the people who make those homes special.

The people who get up early.
The people who work with their hands.
The people who build, repair, teach, serve, deliver, care, create, and keep our communities moving.

Because behind every home is someone who works hard to make a life there.

So today, Squatchy and Gus are taking a moment to say thank you to all the hardworking men and women who make Granbury, Parker County, and the communities around us such great places to call home.

Happy Labor Day!

And yes... they're taking the day off, too. See ya tomorrow!

Chapter 22: A New Route

Gus knew every road around Granbury.
Squatchy knew every back road in Parker County.

So naturally...
they decided to swap.

Squatchy took Gus down some of his favorite Parker County roads.
Gus showed Squatchy a few Granbury shortcuts.

By the end of the day, both were convinced they'd discovered the other's secret territory.

Neither was willing to admit they'd gotten lost once.... Or twice.

Chapter 21: The County Line

For years, the county line had been a boundary.

Granbury was Gus's territory.
Parker County belonged to Squatchy.

But standing together at the county line, they realized something.
A line on a map didn't mean much to two guardians with the same mission.

Gus looked west.
Squatchy looked east.

Then Gus smiled.
"Think we can work together?"
Squatchy grinned.
"I was hoping you'd ask."
And just like that...
the county line wasn't a boundary anymore.

It was the beginning.

Chapter 20 - Trading Stories

The next morning, the work continued.
As they drove from one home to another, the stories began to flow.

Gus shared tales of his first Texas summer.
Squatchy laughed about getting mistaken for every hairy creature in Parker County.

By lunchtime, they weren't just coworkers.... They were friends.

And the miles between jobs seemed a little shorter.

Chapter 25: A Quiet Conversation

One evening, after another long day helping homeowners, Gus and Squatchy sat on the dock overlooking Lake Granbury.

For a while, neither one spoke.
They watched the sun dip below the horizon.

Finally, Squatchy smiled.
"You know..."
"I've spent a lot of years driving the roads of Parker County."

Gus nodded.
"I can tell."

Squatchy chuckled.
"Every mile was worth it."

Chapter 18 – The Stories Begin

Before long...
Neighbors begin talking.

"I saw Squatchy and Gus together."
"No way."
"I swear they were measuring windows."

Soon...
the legends become one story.

Chapter 17 – Two Legends, One Mission

You'll start seeing both Squatchy and Gus around town.

Sometimes together.
Sometimes separately.

But always with the same goal:
Helping homeowners love where they live.

Chapter 16 – Covering More Ground

Gus has spent years helping homeowners around Granbury.
GlassSquatch knows every back road in Parker County.

Instead of working separately...
they decide to work together.

Now more Texas families can get the help they deserve.

So hard to believe that summer is over! Where has the time gone?

Some of us were just getting into a groove, while others couldn't wait for school to be back in session.

Whichever side of the fence you are on, we hope all students, teachers and staff have an amazing first day tomorrow!

If you see anyone that works for the school system getting coffee, breakfast or in the grocery store, give them a word of encouragement... they will greatly appreciate it!

Chapter 15 – They Finally Meet

Who can spot a broken seal first?
Who notices a draft before the homeowner?
Who installs the perfect window?

The competition is fierce...
but always friendly.

By the end of the day, they realize something.
Together, they're even better.
