5 Frequently Asked Questions When Buying Sod:

1. Is there a minimum for pickups or deliveries? There is no minimum for pickups! You can reserve one roll if that's what you need. For deliveries our minimum is 600 SF (one pallet).

2. How often do you cut? We harvest every day. If you picked up sod on a Wednesday, it was harvested on Tuesday and brought in Tuesday evening.

3. Can I just stop in and buy some? There are days we have sod available day of, but its best to reserve in advance or call to see if we have extra and reserve. Because sod is perishable we base our daily harvests on reservations and are often sold out day of.

4. How long can sod stay on the pallet before installing? Season to season this can change but a good rule of thumb is 12 hours for a delivery and immediately after receiving for a pickup. If left on the pallet too long it can become "hot" and die.

5. What size are the rolls? Our rolls are 2'x5'. 10 SF per roll and 60 rolls on a pallet.

BioBlue®: Our signature 80% Kentucky Bluegrass and 20% Perennial Ryegrass mix known for its dark green color, soft texture, and early green up. Great for kids, pets, and short cut lawns. 👪

BioTurf®: 90% Tall Fescue and 10% Kentucky Bluegrass mix is very similar to SLC Turf Trade except we increased the Tall Fescue for even more drought tolerance. Deep rooting and great for low water areas. 🌞

Lawn fertilizer From a Sod Farmers Perspective:

1. Fertilizer programs do work, but they aren't necessary to have a lush green lawn. 5-step programs are a great way to sell 5 bags of fertilizer per year.

2. Only apply fertilizers with pre-emergent if/when you need it. Consistent mowing, healthy grass, and spot treatment with selective w**d killers reduce inputs while savinh money and space in your garage.

3. Phosphorus is an essential nutrient that all plants need to survive. However, established lawns require less Phos than most people think. Unless your soil tests low for Phos, avoid high Phosphorus fertilizers to save money and avoid runoff.

4. Potassium has a similar story. Turfgrass doesn't require much K to thrive, and many soils already contain adequate levels. The best time to apply Potassium is fall.

5. Nitrogen on the other hand is the primary driver of growth and greening, requiring consistent replenishment for a healthy, dense stand of grass

6. Slow release fertilizers are much better for long term health of turfgrass. Providing consistent feeding over a long period of time rather than a rapid spike in nutrients then a quick decline. Slow release will reduce mowing needs, less risk of scorching, and promote even growth.
