A little Art Deco, a little leopard print, and the bathtub that started it all. 🐆

These clients are well traveled, love staying in beautiful luxury hotels, and wanted to bring a little of that experience home. Think glamorous, a little playful, and their very own resort like retreat.

Our client wanted a generous soaking tub that actually fit him, so we found one from , a Canadian company that puts a lot of thought into how a bathtub supports the body. This one has built in armrests and a shape that lets you settle in comfortably without floating up out of position. A pretty tub that’s actually a pleasure to use (hello resale value)!

To make room for it, we reworked the layout of what was originally an attic bathroom, shifting a wall, creating a separate toilet room, and making space for double vanities and her own little getting ready station.

Black, white, and gray were our clients’ preferred palette, so we embraced that and layering in fuzzy leopard print wallpaper, shimmering tile, black cabinetry, and polished nickel giving us that slightly glamorous, Hollywood Regency feel without losing the personality of the people who live here.

A little bit of fun, a little bit of glam, and a whole lot of comfort. I think we nailed it. 😉

If your dog is a member of the family you’re our kind of client.

Whether it’s a dedicated feeding station tucked seamlessly into the cabinetry or a built in water filler that makes daily life just a little easier. We find clever homes for bowls, leashes and treats, and choose materials that can stand up to muddy paws and real life.

They may not technically be the ones signing off on the plans but we’re always thinking about our four legged clients too.

A soup-to-nuts living room transformation, with one little exception: the brass floor lamp. Everything else? Brand new!

A custom sofa stretches the length of the window, a cozy chair for him, and a lift-top coffee table makes working from the couch (the homeowners’ favorite office) a whole lot easier.

And that patterned chair? A happy accident. Our original fabric went on indefinite backorder, so we had to pivot. Turns out, we love the unexpected pop of color and graphic pattern even more.

A little personality, a lot of comfort and thoughtful details for the way this family actually lives 💛

What if your laundry room actually made you want to do laundry?

Okay, maybe that’s asking a lot 😅 But we do believe that making everyday chores a little more enjoyable starts with the spaces we do them in.

This room was originally an underused sunroom, while the laundry was tucked away in a cramped basement closet, right in the middle of a walkway.

We brought laundry up to the main level and gave it room to breathe. A generous folding counter, dedicated laundry baskets, a chute from the upper primary closet, a ceiling hung drying rack, and a utility sink all make the practical stuff easier. Penny round tile and woven lighting make it prettier.

And our vision for that sunny corner? Eventually, a cozy chair where you can sit and fold, or even read a few pages between loads.

If laundry is going to be a never ending part of life, we might as well make the experience a little nicer. 🤍

Sometimes the best way to make a kitchen work better is to rethink everything around it.

For this renovation, we weren’t just updating finishes, we reworked the floor plan to make the entire space more functional for an active, growing family.

The refrigerator moved into what had previously been a breakfast nook, the island was turned to face the family room, and we even built a new wall to create a separate butler’s pantry.

Every decision came back to the same question: How can we make this home work better for the people living in it?

Of course, we had some fun with the finishes along the way. 😉

Fairfax, we’ll see you Saturday! 🍂

We’re popping up at the 50th Annual City of Fairfax Fall Festival this weekend and if you’ve never been this is a good year to change that.

A place for everything and everything in its place.

Apparently everything I do comes back to hospitality. 😉

In the restaurant world, mise en place is something chefs live by. Literally, “everything in its place.” It’s what allows a dinner service to run smoothly because what you need is where you need it, when you need it.

I think about homes the same way.

Before we decide where the cabinets go or start adding organizational features, we think about how the space is actually going to be used. What happens here every day? What needs to be within reach? Where are the things that usually end up cluttering the counter going to live?

That might mean a pullout beside the range for the utensils you reach for while cooking. A narrow cabinet that turns a few inches into spice storage. A designated spot for sheet pans and cutting boards. Hidden trash and recycling. A coffee station that can disappear behind closed doors. Even a place for the dog bowls.

It’s not organization for organization’s sake. It’s designing the space around the way the people in it actually live, so everything has a place and there’s a place for everything.

Turns out, good hospitality and good design have a lot in common.
