[Studio Sneak Peek] Ensuite to Master Bedroom

There's something about a well-designed ensuite that stops you mid-scroll.

What you're looking at is a first pass 3D render, a precise visualisation of how the space could look and feel before a single tile is laid.

That's the power of designing in Revit. You don't have to wait until it's built to know it feels 'right'.

3D renders like this one are part of how we bring a design to life before construction begins — giving our clients certainty, clarity, and genuine excitement about what they're building.

"What exactly am I paying for — and is it worth it?"

If that question has crossed your mind, you're not alone. It's one of the very first things we hear from homeowners who are ready to build or renovate but aren't quite sure how the process — or the investment — actually works.

And honestly? It's one of the most important questions you can ask.

Because starting a home build or renovation without understanding how architectural fees are structured is a little like agreeing to a contract you haven't read. It creates anxiety where there should be clarity, and confusion where there should be confidence.

So let's change that. ➡️ Swipe through for an honest, straightforward breakdown of how architectural fees work — what you're paying for, when it's billed, and how it's calculated.

One of the biggest mistakes homeowners make during the renovation planning or home build process is treating architectural fees as an unknown to be avoided rather than a structure to be understood.

When you know what you're paying for and why, every decision becomes easier — and every conversation with your architect becomes more productive.

This is the guide we wish every client had before their first consultation.

Ever looked at a home and thought — "How did that actually come together?" Swipe to learn more ➡️

Most people start a renovation or home build knowing what they want. What they don't always know is WHO makes it happen — and HOW many moving parts there are behind the scenes.

Here's the truth: a great home isn't the work of one person. It's the result of a carefully coordinated team, with each expert playing an essential role.

Save this post — it'll come in handy when you're ready to start planning your home build or renovation 🔖

This client came to us with a dated penthouse in a prime South Melbourne location, directly across the street from the iconic South Melbourne Market.

The brief was clear:
1. Modernise the space
2. Introduce more storage
3. Create a WFH area

We started by rethinking the layout. The existing kitchen and living area felt clunky and underutilised, so we opened it up and refined the flow. In its place, we introduced a generous island, a dedicated work-from-home zone, and seamless, integrated storage designed to maximise every inch.

At the heart of the space, an Arabescato marble island from CDK Stone takes centre stage. It brings movement, texture, and a sense of quiet luxury into a compact footprint. Paired with warm chevron timber flooring, the palette feels elevated yet grounded, layered yet intentional.

But the real transformation lies in what you don’t immediately see:
• Full-height joinery that maximises storage without adding visual weight
• A concealed work-from-home nook, seamlessly built into the cabinetry
• Integrated appliances that keep the kitchen calm and cohesive
• A material-led approach where finishes do the visual heavy lifting

Every line was carefully considered. Every detail designed to work harder.

[Inside The Studio] Our Core Values

Your home is not a trend, a template, or someone else's idea.

It's a collaboration between Client - Builder - Designer to get the best outcome. Between the inspo boards, trade quotes, and endless decisions... it's easy to lose sight of what you actually wanted in the first place.

That's where our core value system comes in to ground the process.

Everything we do is guided by 6 core values — not as words on a wall, but as the lived principles behind every project we take on.

✦ Authenticity
✦ Collaboration
✦ Clarity
✦ Attention to Detail
✦ Holistic Wellbeing
✦ Trust & Transparency

Whether you're planning a renovation or beginning the journey of building your dream home, the right process makes all the difference.

Great architecture doesn’t begin with drawings. It begins on site.

This is where ideas are tested against real space, real light, and real life. Where decisions move beyond theory and start responding to how a home will actually be lived in.

On site, design becomes immediate. Sketches are refined in context, problems are solved in real time, and every detail is shaped with intention, function, and clarity.

At Formery, our design ethos is simple:
We don’t design in isolation. We design through context.

That means stepping into the space, understanding its constraints and opportunities, and developing architecture that responds to both lifestyle and environment.

This on-site approach is what defines thoughtful residential architecture in Melbourne— design that is grounded, practical, and deeply connected to the people who live in it.

If you’re planning a home renovation or architectural project, choosing a context-led design process means fewer costly mistakes, clearer decisions, and a more meaningful outcome.

Most clients never see this…

But this document is what makes or breaks a project.

Without a clear design brief:
• Budgets spiral
• Layouts feel off
• Decisions get delayed
• The build becomes reactive

These issues don’t start on site
They start here.

A well-crafted brief sets the tone, keeps your project on track, and saves time, money, and headaches.

Comment “BRIEF” to see how we help clients get it right from the very start.

Good design begins with clarity.
