** Cool vs Warm vs Neutral Whites (Dulux)**
White paint looks simple… until you start choosing it. Cool, warm, and neutral whites each behave differently, and understanding those differences makes the whole process so much easier.
**Cool Whites**
Crisp and modern, with blue or grey undertones. They brighten contemporary spaces beautifully — but in the wrong light they can feel cold or a little stark. South‑facing rooms and shadowy corners tend to exaggerate their coolness.
**Warm Whites**
Soft, inviting, and full of character. Their yellow or pink undertones can make older homes feel instantly cosy. But they shift throughout the day — creamy in the morning, peachy or mustardy by late afternoon depending on your natural light.
**Neutral Whites**
The calm middle ground. Balanced undertones that don’t lean too warm or too cool. They’re steady, adaptable, and incredibly easy to live with — perfect when you want a white that behaves itself across different rooms and lighting conditions.
Choosing the right white isn’t about trends. It’s about how your home holds light, mood, and personality.
For me, my heart sits most happily in the neutrals range. I am not a huge fan of stark white, but, as a child of the 1980s, I still shudder a little when I see creamier whites.
